I have been working at BlackBerry full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    average benefits and compensation
    Good work life balance

    Cons

Blackberry has been cutting staff over the last several years; leaving the employee to pick up the pieces.

    Advice to Management

Now that you've divested into all these sub-products and services its time to pick one and "make Blackberry great again!"

I worked at BlackBerry as an intern

    Pros

    - People are very nice and friendly
    - They offer a good amount of intern events
    - Nice, big offices

    Cons

    - People seem lazy or uninterested in their work
    - Bad atmosphere due to low company profits
    - Depending on the team, you might get boring or tedious work

    Advice to Management

Onboarding process was painful. Recruiter was lazy and unhelpful. Please disclose wage before we sign the offer letter.

    Pros

The team is good and functional. I get two great mentors. The manager is highly detail-oriented, and he know the technical par t of the work.

    Cons

The morale is pretty low, the company is shrinking. The higher management imparts different information during town hall.

    Advice to Management

The training for new employees are not enough, both on technical and culture sides.

I worked at BlackBerry as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Despite the company having difficult time, I had great time for acquiring and learning great knowledge. People were great as well.

    Cons

Because of difficulties the company was having, the mood was not that energetic, and some of facilities were not on the point.

I have been working at BlackBerry full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are some really great people that work at Blackberry, and it is easy to get along with them. The work is challenging and I have learned a number of new technologies. They have some decent benefits, including matching of RRSP contributions.

    Cons

Departments are given a low budget for handing out raises, and there is limited availability for people to move on to a higher level, so regardless of merit, you need to sell yourself to the right people to get anywhere. Also, their share purchase plan benefits the company managing the shares through excessive fees more than the employees.

    Advice to Management

Giving a 1.5 to 2% raise yearly and making it hard to advance has cost the company a lot of talent.
