    Pros

My tenure at BlackBerry (formerly RIM) began when they were at their largest. This meant that I had access to some of the best resources was dealing with partners around the world.

    Cons

My tenure at BlackBerry (formerly RIM) ended during their tumultuous downturn. It felt like every few months people were getting laid off and there were no expectations for when it would end. During a two year period the company went through three CEOs, definitely a sign of the hard times.

    Advice to Management

Manage expectations. This was the biggest gap I saw in management capabilities. Most employees were left working confused or contradictory to the plan as there was no plan communicated.

I worked at BlackBerry as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Many internal resources to learn about company, tools, BlackBerry platform; tools to suggest internal improvements to management
    - Close-knit team
    - Very collaborative; everyone is pretty open to helping everyone else

    Cons

    - Scrum/sprint meetings were overly long; a lot of the topics could have been put off to one-on-ones
    - Employee moral is at a low

I have been working at BlackBerry full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good acquisition was a smart and needed boost to elevate BlackBerry's EMM platform.

    - Strong portfolio/solutions/offerings.

    - Support is above average compared to overall competition .

    Cons

    - Lack of Hardware direction is hurting BlackBerry despite positive reviews & general acceptance of Priv device.

    - Adoption and integration of Good will take longer than expected. New prospects will sit on the sidelines until transition sticks and shows longevity.

    - Internal BlackBerry systems are absolutely horrible. Makes the job that much more stressful.

    Advice to Management

    - The marketing team needs to do a better job with messaging/resources/web-site.

    - Executive team needs a reality check with respect to expectations/targets/quotas.

    - Incentivize Sales team to keep motivated and hungry. Current model does not do this.

I worked at BlackBerry full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of things you can learn technologically in this company. Good opportunity for carrer growth. competitive pay and salary.

    Cons

Depending on the team, and your personality, work - life balance can be tough sometimes. All depends on your boss. Rumors of lay-offs are counter productive.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes I felt, management is selling their achievements and opportunities within the company a lot compared to the outside world. It seems like a bubble where they live. It'd be a better place if the management could agree to think beyond that bubble and acknowledge the reality outside it.
