    Pros

Good benefits, nice building, good IT support

Horrible culture, back stabbing, then they force you to resign by paying you a sum of money to walk away. No internal mobility. Poorly educated, abnoxious people. Also underpay their people. Sexist jokes in the office.

I worked at BlackRock as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team ethic and less of the harmful, unenjoyable competitive nature that characterises many other financial firms. Very entrepreneurial, excellent office facilities, and clear global leader in asset management.

    Cons

No real downside was evident in the one week that I spent at the firm.

I have been working at BlackRock full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

work life balance generally okay, jots of responsibility, big company perks, great name on CV. If your face fits in you can be happy.

    Cons

Very poor culture, bulling rife on some teams, internal mobility extremely poor, most good people leave due to lack of recognition. Extremely poor management. Backstabbing is promoted in order to shine out amongst the crowd and a lot of good people lose confidence. No company is perfect and I have worked in a few to know. But if you want a bit of a career as opposed to a job and you perhaps don't fit the usual moulded 'person'. You may end up quite unhappy there.

    Advice to Management

Be opened minded about candidates for roles for a change. Get rid of a lot of the middle management that are sucking the life and talent out of the company.
