    Pros

Pays are relatively good. They are serious about technology and committed to technology. Even MAD level has good hands on coding skill.

    Cons

Need to be very dedicated to your position. When taking ownerships for multiple fronts, your time management and multitasking skill become very important. Required very hardworking to survive.

    I worked at BlackRock full-time

    Pros

Brand name, compensation and benefits are decent if you stay for more than 3 years, internal mobility.

    Cons

Work life balance in some groups, mixed reviews on management, HR does a lot of industry benchmarks to be just competitive enough but not exactly best in class, lack of diversity in the top ranks, innovation is subjective and seems to be reactionary to market forces than leading.

I worked at BlackRock full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great brand in asset management with very strong position in ETF's and risk management, global footprint

    Cons

Limited possibility to move upwards particularly from director positions. They are currently more focused on creating opportunities for VP's

    Advice to Management

Try to create more opportunities to the junior talent in the company to fight competition from other hot sectors like tech

I worked at BlackRock full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great team, smart people, healthy collaborative work environment. Very good base technology

    Cons

Not much room for career growth. If you do something well, you tend to get stuck in that position. This is a widely held observation - not just my opinion.

I worked at BlackRock full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits, job security, and you have the ability to work in other cities as it is a large company.

    Cons

Long hours as it is a global company. Meetings have to be scheduled so all attendees from several countries can make it. This forces you to take 5am or 6pm meetings a couple times a week. Projects taken much longer to complete due to developers working across different countries. It also takes a lot longer to complete projects due to needing approval from the New York office technology department before proceeding with each step of development.

    Pros

Great corporate perks, globally connected, opportunities to develop self, structured mentorship programs, networks. Great people who are smart and kind and collaborative (the no jerk policy is real here). Ability to lead and be autonomous here is great.

    Cons

Too many "ideas" people who are brought on to do strategy, with no one actually executing on the tactics. Senior management can sometimes foster this cliquey, strategic, group
