    Pros

Great vacation package, great bonus opportunity. It was clear the company cared about their employees. The managers held regular 1:1 meetings with the consultants to check in, answer questions, and offer guidance.

    Cons

Senior consultant were not always willing to help out the newbies. Was laid off unexpectedly with little communication. Bonus structure was not clear for newbies who weren't getting a full billable load.

    Advice to Management

The mentor program could use work. My mentor was new himself so wasn't always able to help in ways a more senior consultant might have been able to.

Not enough time in the day.

    Advice to Management

Better and more timely communication from top down on things that directly affect the front line associates.

    I worked at Blackbaud full-time

    Pros

Great people, industry-leader, solid benefits, average pay

    Cons

Cog in the machine - Insight/ideas aren't taken seriously
    Lacking customer support
Customers don't respond well to 3 year agreements

If you are in sales, the Win2gther program is comical - take advantage of it while you can. With the program, just by "helping" with a deal, you receive quota relief and pay. There are so many reps hitting their numbers by riding the coat-tails of other reps. Commonly, your main competition will be internal. Blackbaud is double-paying on just about every single deal...and they wonder why they are on a hiring freeze.

    Advice to Management

Figure out territories, assign fair quotas, and let reps get back to selling.

I have been working at Blackbaud full-time

    Pros

work from home encouraged, the cafe is decent. Otherwise not that much is good much less great

    Cons

benefits are expensive, everyone does three jobs, no diversity in workforce. Co run by older white men in SC, out of touch with staff.

Compensation is very average and next to no training.

    Advice to Management

Treat staff with respect, hire for diversity, and ask for feedback

I worked at Blackbaud full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people are great and its for a good cause.A lot of my coworkers had been there for over 10 years.

    Cons

The technology at least when I was there was very outdated (VB.NET). The way they develop through building xml specs to build pages instead of actualy coding also degraded programming skills over time.

    Pros

Big company with good benefits. Room for advancement and growth. A great place to get some job experience. Casual atmosphere.

    Cons

Not feeling "heard" by leadership. I started out on a team with 10 people and as co-workers got promoted or left to take other jobs, they weren't replaced. We became a team of 4 but still carried the same work load. Long hours, high stress, and no additional compensation.

    Advice to Management

Advocate for your team. Be aware of burn out in the people who work front-line customer service. Prepare in advance for high volume times of the year by having enough staff.

I have been working at Blackbaud full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Blackbaud seems to hire like minded individuals who deliver a quality product. In the right department an individual can grow greatly in their chosen career path.

    Cons

Benefits and salary are far below what they should be for a tech company. Leadership often doesn't share a clear vision. Constant reorganization causes chaos.

I worked at Blackbaud full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Blackbaud's work in creating software to assist nonprofits is excellent, and working with some of the best nonprofits in the world is greatly rewarding. The headquarters in Charleston is beautiful, with many amenities.

    Cons

Blackbaud's reorganization since acquiring Covio has greatly diminished their focus on customer and employee success. Attrition is extremely high now, as they are losing great people due to increasingly responsibilities without adequate compensation, lack of proper training, and statistical management. In trying to keep up with the technology boom in Charleston, and remain competitive with other local up-and-coming IT companies, they have shifted their focus to being more profitable, and away from customer and employee satisfaction. This ship is now sinking in Silicon Harbor.

    Advice to Management

Management by numbers does not work. Stop using inaccurate metrics and provide adequate training for your staff. Compensate by pay increases. Coffee bars, foosball, and snack drawers don't pay the mortgage. And the CEO needs to address the ENTIRE company on a regular basis. His favoritism for certain areas of the company is blatant, and uninspiring to the red-headed stepchildren of the company. Can you get Marc Chardon back in there?

I have been working at Blackbaud full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Engineering quality and culture has improved tremendously in the past two years. Becoming more modern and making good hires for technical leadership. Teams are on the paths to success.

    Cons

Still a long ways to go, especially in regards to salary/compensation for software developerss

    Advice to Management

Keep moving quickly, continue to hire people with strong technical chops and people who desire to learn and improve
