I have been working at Blain’s Farm and Fleet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work day is very stable. Rarely do I feel that I must stay late, arrive early, or take work home. Everyone is friendly and I have a ton of creative freedom in how I am allowed to approach a problem or task. Most people working here have been there for over 5 years.

    Cons

The schedule is extremely rigid, with little flexibility as to the start and end times of the day, or even getting an hour to make a doctor's appointment. There is also quite a bit of unwillingness to move forward with the times.

I have been working at Blain’s Farm and Fleet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They can sometimes work with your schedule. Students can work nights, most people only have to close once a week to once a month if they are full time.

    Cons

They lie about raises, overwork the good employees, they won't allow you to be friends with the managers, the select few who are allowed to talk to them and eat with them on lunch get promotions and raises first.

    Advice to Management

Get new management that isn't so hellbent on ruling over everyone and making each store like the store they trained in. Learn something about business instead of sitting in the office all day.

    Pros

Major holidays off. Not open 24hr. Part time does get some vacation and benefits after a year if qualify

Various shifts. Favors and hires young workers. Management not very well educated. Too many bossy gossipy workers.

    Pros

We can wear jeans, and any shoe. The store has enough room on the sales floor. Has computer access to other locations inventory to order an item for a customer

    Cons

No room in the back of the departments for back stock. Unorganized and unsafe, high shrink and no stocking structure from daily shipments

    Advice to Management

Stop treating employees like numbers and invest in them. They will be more appreciative

    Pros

Great Company to Work for. They make you feel welcome from day 1. Everyone there is friendly and easy to get along with. Blue shirts even give a smile.

    Cons

Although they are better priced than most stores, it is a shame that there is no employee discount.

    Pros

Coworkers can be a great bunch.

    Cons

Everything else, from the lying management to the battery acid eating through your jeans.

    Advice to Management

Shut it down... shut it down now. This place is a scam from the beginning. There's no room for advancement, and every supposed benefit is a lie. With vacation that is never approved, "profit sharing" that is never shared, and raises that are never seen-what's the use?

I worked at Blain’s Farm and Fleet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Blain's sells an exciting variety of products and, in my experience, we have some really wonderful customers who are often working on very interesting projects when they come in for assistance.

    Cons

Management is underpayed and under-staffed and it is very clearly reflected in the quality of managers. They are unhappy and their attitude is extremely contagious. Many lower level employees have adopted the same outlook and are just as miserable.

    Advice to Management

Don't gossip about your employees to their peers and please refrain from allowing your staff members to mistreat others, especially via Walkie and in front of customers.
