I have been working at Blattner Energy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Blattner is incredibly family friendly & flexible in understanding work/home life balance. The benefits (healthcare, pto, vacation, etc.) are great, and the employees work together as a team. The majority of my friendships have come from Blattner- they hire great people. With the growth of the industry (and the company) there have been numerous opportunities to advance and grow with the company.

    Cons

The company has been growing rapidly, which can make it feel like a big corporation, however they seem to be adjusting well in keeping the small family owned business mentality.

I worked at Blattner Energy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Steady work. You have the chance to learn other jobs.... you can travel to other states & work if you are a good worker.

    Cons

Alot of the superintendents aren't very likable they think they always have to talk down to the employees.... pay isn't that great for some people...

    Advice to Management

More evaluation needs to be done at the superintendent level.... I agree to be in leadership you sometimes have to be a butt.. only you dont have to be a butt to be in leadership.... there is a difference.

I have been working at Blattner Energy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Family friendly environment that promotes work-life balance. Great benefits both direct and indirect. Stable and forward looking. Treats employees well.

    Cons

Resistant to changes in ways of thinking. Those that challenge the "status quo" are often looked at as having a "poor attitude" or "lack of leadership skills". The focus on Strategic Thinking can be burden some as upper management feels that everyone should "have this skill" and show a lack of patience in letting employees develop this skill. Much favoritism shown during times of promotion - promotions are often not based on merit.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach - lead by example. You can't preach policy, procedures and values and then cast them aside due to convenience or schedule. Be less concerned with those that speak their mind and more concerned with those that follow blindly.
