I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Passionate people
    - Super intelligent colleagues
    - Culture of learning & growing
    - Relaxed, friendly work environment
    - Family-friendly with good work-life balance
    - Stability
    - Excellent benefits
    - People have fun while creating fun for others!

    Cons

    - Compensation is not as competitive as comparable jobs at other companies
    - Cost of living is high
    - Large, risk-averse company means that change happens slowly

    Advice to Management

Overall the C-suite and senior leadership is doing a fantastic job. Feedback is consistently sought, and they're always looking for ways to level up the company.

Providing a clearer picture of career progression would be a significant improvement. Additionally, many managers across the company could use training and assistance with providing meaningful, actionable feedback to their reports about their areas of strength and weakness.

While one of Blizzard's core values is "Gameplay First", it can sometimes feel like employees who are not designers on game teams are second class citizens; continuing to push the "one Blizzard team" initiative and provide opportunities to shine for other disciplines will help combat this feeling.

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Blizzard, first and foremost, cares about their players. They are dedicated to bringing the best experience to their players as possible, and it really shows in every aspect of work life. I have never felt more valued as an employee than I do at Blizzard. I'm a pretty low man on the totem pole, but my ideas are heard and valued, and I have never felt more comfortable or at home with a company than I do with Blizzard. The advancement opportunities for employees are also far more varied and available than with other companies I've worked for.

Plus, you can bring your dogs to work. How cool is that?

    Cons

If you're brought on as a temp or a contractor, you can sometimes feel a little disconnected from the Blizzard community as a whole, but they're taking steps toward eliminating that divide to make sure every employee feels valued.

I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Sets the standard for quality and creativity in games and increasingly, for entertainment overall
    - Incredibly passionate employee base
    - Values-driven organization that really cares about people and what we all think
    - Stable, profitable and great bonuses and benefits
    - Desire to consistently get better everyday
    - Cheaper cost of living vs. LA or SF

    Cons

    - Consensus driven culture can slow down decision-making
    - Still figuring out how to scale across multiple franchises successfully
    - Can be more ambitious

    Advice to Management

Push the organization to think bigger and take advantage of all our opportunities. Stay vigilant on quality as we continue to expand. Continue to level up leaders and managers.

I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

For those of us who make it past the gates and into a seat here know what I mean when I say - "It feels like finding home". The core values live within the culture and are demonstrated in daily actions by employees. Compensation and benefits are strong, and there is a "one-team, one-dream" feel to profit-sharing.

    Cons

Can be very process-driven, it makes change happen slowly at times. The bar is very high for performance and promotions can be slow to come by. You have to work really hard to exceed expectations which can erode some of the exalted "work-life balance".

    Advice to Management

You people are pretty amazing and have had the privilege of working closely with many of you. Senior Management is an extremely smart and talented group, but would like to see more female VPs +. Maybe even an EVP sometime soon!?
