Speaking for myself, this is a very special place to work
Mar 21, 2023 - Talent Acquistion SpecialistRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-The people that work here love this place and are truly passionate about what they do. -Great work-life balance. -There have been a lot of new people hired over the last 2 years and they seem very focused on making Blizzard inclusive and a great place to work again. -Good work benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, etc. -Recently relaunched BlizzU, a program that provides plenty of opportunities to learn and grow your career. -The Irvine campus is one of the coolest offices I've ever seen. -It seems like leadership tries to be as transparent as possible, even if it leads to mixed or negative results.
Cons
-Your annual bonus is more dependent on how the company is doing, not necessarily reflective of how well you've done your job. -No longer a full-time remote company for most, they are trying to get everyone back in the office for a hybrid work schedule. -Not the most competitive in the industry in terms of base pay.

Pros
-Working with like-minded individuals -Ability to move within the company -Great work-life balance
Cons
-Upper management stuck in the old ways (hybrid and on-site rather than remote forward)
- Former Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Good lateral movement and career growth opportunities
Cons
Hard to get into company difficult interview process
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
Really solid Work/Life balance, haven't had to work over the usual 40 hours and when you come in and out is pretty flexible. Vision and Dental insurance are really good Work culture is really supportive
Cons
Cheaper health benefits aren't that great if you visit a doctor often. Raises could be better, especially during a recession
- Current Employee★★★★★
Truly full of passionate gamers
Nov 28, 2022 - Senior Software Engineer I in Irvine, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Nearly all teammates are passionate about creating an amazing experience.
Cons
The ability to change direction and adapt technology can be severely blocked by legacy systems and de-prioritization for new game features.
- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
- Everyone I've interacted with are super passionate and empathetic people - Always learning new skills or insights from everyone - New PTO policy gives equal vacation time regardless of time employed - Benefits are great: reimbursements for phone/internet, tuition assistance, hardware and software, parental leave, bereavement leave, 1.5 week vacation at the end of the year, quarterly game budget (for non blizzard games) - Fun events like internal hackathons, social events remotely (painting party, summits, cooking demo) - Playtest Fridays let's you try out new features your coworkers have been working on - Cool stuff you get to work on - Can wear as many or as little hats you want (be a generalist or stay specialized)
Cons
- Turnover has been pretty bad, some disciplines are bleeding

Great for professional growth and idea sharing
Aug 30, 2022 - Associate Research Scientist in Irvine, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great management that cares about your growth and personal well being. If you have an idea, they care about what you have to say.
Cons
May take a while to promote when going from mid to senior. This is strictly just from what I have heard. Particularly my department is lacking in diversity.
