Speaking for myself, this is a very special place to work

    Mar 21, 2023 - Talent Acquistion Specialist

    Business Outlook

    Pros

-The people that work here love this place and are truly passionate about what they do. -Great work-life balance. -There have been a lot of new people hired over the last 2 years and they seem very focused on making Blizzard inclusive and a great place to work again. -Good work benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, etc. -Recently relaunched BlizzU, a program that provides plenty of opportunities to learn and grow your career. -The Irvine campus is one of the coolest offices I've ever seen. -It seems like leadership tries to be as transparent as possible, even if it leads to mixed or negative results.

    Cons

-Your annual bonus is more dependent on how the company is doing, not necessarily reflective of how well you've done your job. -No longer a full-time remote company for most, they are trying to get everyone back in the office for a hybrid work schedule. -Not the most competitive in the industry in terms of base pay.

    Pros

Really solid Work/Life balance, haven't had to work over the usual 40 hours and when you come in and out is pretty flexible. Vision and Dental insurance are really good Work culture is really supportive

    Cons

Cheaper health benefits aren't that great if you visit a doctor often. Raises could be better, especially during a recession

    Pros

Great management that cares about your growth and personal well being. If you have an idea, they care about what you have to say.

    Cons

May take a while to promote when going from mid to senior. This is strictly just from what I have heard. Particularly my department is lacking in diversity.

Employee Story
Meet Buffy Rice, Game Producer on Diablo IV 🔥 #BlizzardWomen “In every job I’ve held, my end goal has always been to make people happy. Before joining the game industry, I had a pretty colorful resume that included being a party expert, managing a root beer store, and working as a legal assistant. When I first saw an opportunity to get involved in the game industry as an event coordinator, it was like a lightbulb went off in my head. I could work in games? This incredible thing that brought me and the people I love so many hours of joy? It was a dream I never expected to come true. My advice to women who want a career in gaming is to find out what you might be interested in and dive deep. You never know what kind of skills you already have that could apply. If you feel overwhelmed by how much there is to learn, a solid first step is to chat with your friendly neighborhood game developer. There's no single path into game development, and a lot of industry veterans would be happy to share their story. ” (Art By Celena Sam 🎨)

Employee Story
Meet Amelia Savery, Executive Communications Manager at Blizzard Entertainment. ⚔️ "My advice to women looking to break into the industry is to identify their superpower and find a way to pair it with their passion for video games. I also advise them to reach out respectfully to those already in the space for guidance, apply for jobs that suit them even if they don’t meet all the requirements, be open to learning and stepping out of their comfort zone, and always lead with their joy around what they love."
