    Pros

Fast paced and strived to use new technology as it came along.

    Cons

No loyalty to employees in determining next steps for company.

    Advice to Management

Shouldn't have looked for ways to replace entire development team with pie in the sky promises.

    Pros

Co workers and customers were amazing. Free movies and games. Took out if state trips for corporate events.

    Cons

Nowhere to go up. Worked all holidays. No raise but hours required to work as a salaried employee went up and up. No clear direction from upper management, other thanight "do better than what you are doing now"

    "Assistant Manager"

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Loved working with customers, and the regulars especially. It was also a small group of employees so we were like a small family. The hours of business worked well for me as well.

    Cons

There was really no opportunity for advancement. Employees because there were so few of us would try and take advantage of calling out. There were many times I worked doubles which was fine, but no one else would ever cover any shifts.

    Advice to Management

Great place to work, but when the new CEO took over the company lost sight of what mattered and that was the customer.

    I worked at Blockbuster full-time

    Pros

Working at blockbuster was great. The manager was friendly and the hours were flexible, great for part-time while in school.

    Cons

As a csr, the job can get a little boring. Must watch newly released films in order to keep up and answer customer questions, just not enough time!

    Advice to Management

Management was decent. Manager shouldn't push employees so hard into pitching sales. I felt like I had to meet a subscription quota and that was no fun.

    I worked at Blockbuster part-time

    Pros

    Company policy
    Management style
    Setup of store
Daily duties fill up a shift nicely

    Cons

    Goals are unrealistic
Promotions give a lot of responsibility, no raise
    Store managers hired are incompetent
No reward of diligence/discipline for laziness

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees. When I worked there, I had substandard managers with a huge ego. Stop hiring 20 people and only giving 4 hour shifts. I was promoted to "4 star CSR" Which was basically managerial responsibilities without the pay or title. I would have stayed longer if I was treated well.

I worked at Blockbuster full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee's enjoyed working with each other. The most enjoyable part was the customer interactions. Free rentals were a plus and the discounts were good.

    Cons

The company was not profitable towards the end of the retail stores being open. So fear of job security was always the worst.

    Advice to Management

When the chance to buy Netflix was on the table that would have been the correct move.
