Pros
Friendly place but unstable on employment
Cons
Not sure what to do and where things are placed
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Coworkers were great to work with
Cons
Management changes were not great
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Amazing people. Most of the people there are hard workers and passionate about the work they do. It’s also a great entry-level medical job - good way to get your foot in the door for some training.
Cons
The scheduling is all over the place. They’ll have you work three 12 hour days, have one day off, then work another 4 days before having another day off. It’s exhausting, and very difficult to maintain mental health and work/life balance. There’s also no parking for employees, so get ready to drive around looking for parking for 20 minutes before each shift and walking through some super sketchy areas (and hoping your car is still there/not vandalized after your shift). Pay is also pretty crappy. It’s stressful and physically/mentally difficult, and the pay isn’t fair for all that collections has to do.

Heavy workload, overworked and unsupported

Opportunity to grow within is limited unless you have a degree
Cons
Poor pay, unsupported staff at all levels. Management team has many open spots to hire.

Great mission- big turnover
Aug 26, 2020 - Director in Honolulu, HIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Mission and values are the pros. Unfortunately the incredibly high turnover and low pay doesn’t allow buy in.
Cons
Low. Pay, no 401k until 12 months, heavy workload.

Pros
Great cause and really nothing more.
Cons
Team lead plays favorites. TL trains who he/she wants even though there are people who have been there longer that has yet to be trained. Honestly, you will not see much people in lab who have lasted longer than a year. TL's favoritism creates a an extremely toxic and unprofessional environment, which is why you don't see workers who have been there that long. TL calls in the favorites to start early and leave early without asking the whole team. Team morale is currently at its lowest. Management is an absolute nightmare who don't take action on things such as harassment, favoritism or laziness.

Good benefits and friendly coworkers
May 31, 2017 - Lab Assistant in Honolulu, HIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The blood bank of Hawaii has a good mission statement. To save lives. Everyone there is really nice and welcoming. They are hard workers dedicated to their cause. The benefits there are awesome.
Cons
Some down sides are the room for growth there. The pay is getting better but still seems like not paid enough for what they do. Management is iffy there.

Pros
Such a great cause to work for. Many great workers there. Benefits were pretty good. Not sure if they have changed but they had Vacation, Sick Leave, 100% Paid Medical/Dental (additional $ for family members).
Cons
Pay isn't amazing. A lot (not all) management looks down on everyone else in the company. There are problems there that are covered up rather than fixed. No Parking.

Pros
Family feel while working there. You'll find people of all backgrounds and some who have been there for 30 years. Good benefits except 3 weeks vacation seems too little if your family is on the mainland. Trying to keep with the times and great vision.
Cons
Felt disorganized when trying to progress due to most processes are manual (paper). Too many major multi-departmental projects going on at once.
