I have been working at Bloodcenter of Wisconsin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The flexible schedule is very considerate for family. There are opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills. Good leadership.

    Cons

Benefit may be improved for future. Efficiency has been improved and initiatives have been set up to improve transparency and communication.

    Advice to Management

People are the value of the company. Get staff motivated, empowered, and opinion heard will bring more value in the long term.

I worked at Bloodcenter of Wisconsin (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great life saving mission being done by hard working good front line people. Benefits are average for a non-profit company. Donors and volunteers are amazing in their dedication to the mission.

    Cons

Pay low for entry level positions. More organization, less recreating the wheel, and major process improvement needed in the department I worked in. Very top heavy organization while front line staff takes on the majority of the customer facing work and is grossly understaffed. Your slogan of 'doing more good than you know' does not apply to employees. No incentives nor a positive work environment exists at corporate. Work/life balance is unrealistic if you are an exempt employee in this organization, unless you are in a leadership role.

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs to invest in supervisory/human resource training for mid-management and supervisors as well as better onboarding processes for all positions. Less management/leadership meetings and more time in the trenches with your people is desperately needed. Learn how to motivate and retain good people. A lot of good people have left your company in the last couple of years and it is beginning to show.
