I worked at Bloomberg L.P. as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

You are given a project that is not only challenging but also useful for the team you're working on. You truly expand on the concepts learned in the classroom and possibly learn more with respect to scaling and distributing applications. Everyone is genuinely available to help with questions. Nothing is assumed and you are given time to learn source code and any tools needed in order to complete the project. Asides from the technical aspect, there's many opportunities to learn about company culture and join the Bloomberg Communities.

    Cons

The environment can be intimidating but make sure to reach out to your mentor or manager if you're feeling overwhelmed.

I worked at Bloomberg L.P. as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - small teams really enable sense of community
    - people are very smart and open to helping
    - 85% of profits go into philanthropy, which lets Bloomberg Employees access lots of museums for free and leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling inside even if you're not directly working on philanthropy

    Cons

    - lots of proprietary technology that can be a struggle to pick up

I worked at Bloomberg L.P. as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Bloomberg puts effort into giving interesting projects to their engineering interns- lots of ML
My mentor was pretty great, and gave me a lot of ownership over my project
Mike's portion of the profits (85%) support a large and effective philanthropy organization, and employees are strongly encouraged to volunteer through opportunities and incentives
There is a formal process for switching teams, which you are encouraged to do frequently. Additionally, there is a team-matching process for new hires
You can work in almost any CS field at Bloomberg, due to their large number of terminal products
Engineers put on an impressive overnight puzzle hunt event for interns, with costumes, events, swag, and really well-done puzzles
Intern housing is free, and close to Bloomberg
Other events include a company picnic (food, rides, etc), two intern parties, day of service, and a bunch of random ones
Free admission to effectively any museum for you and your friends

    Cons

Intern housing is dorm-style, and inferior to what you would get from other top companies
More internal politics than most top tech companies
NYC offices do not serve lunch
    Some teams look pretty boring
Most old code is C++, and there are entire teams dedicated to paying down decades of technical debt

I worked at Bloomberg L.P. as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Unlike interns at other companies, I am given the chance to get access to core business in the team and developed core functionalities for renewing DRSK product. I worked with several colleagues who are really experienced and helpful. I learned something that could not been learnt other places.

    Cons

At present, Bloomberg should offer employees the cafeteria.

I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. as an intern

    Pros

A lot of perks like, free snacks, Summer picnic celebration, and nice offices

    Cons

an outdated company in regards to how they treat interns. The company hasn't moved to the new world where work is being evaluated by the quality and not the number of hours that was put into it.

    Advice to Management

Give the interns the flexibility and responsibility of a full-time employee.
