I worked at Bloomberg L.P. as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

snacks, fruit and a variety of drinks available all the time; many nice and intelligent people work there but relations within teams are not always good because some team leaders like it this way; full time employees have very good benefits. poor career prospects, therefore, good for fresh graduates and young people as a first job experience.

    Cons

temps are poorly treated by both management and the staffing agency they are hired through. it's a shame there are no benefits for temps at all, not a single sick day. pay is low because great part of it is taken by the staffing agency. no matter how hard you work some manager will decide that you are not needed anymore and will terminate you. my contract was terminated without any previous notice which is a common practice for Bloomberg. I was contacted by Accounting Principals after the work day was over and they told me my contract was over, not to return on the next day. I was in shock! Never had been treated like that before! I heard too many complaints from the quantity of work people had and many times they felt unappreciated.

    Advice to Management

I had no contact with senior management. Some team leaders are excellent people, work hard and build a nice atmosphere within their teams, other are absolutely horrible and make the tedious work even harder. Team leaders rotation is so frequent that more sooner than later you get one of those that have no idea how to deal with people and do not care about them. They've got absolutely nothing from leaders and should be called supervisors which is a term that matches their profile. Moving to another team/department when possible is a frequent escape.

I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Cafeteria food is all inclusive. Increased network due to friends and managers. A lot of free time on the job to look for other/better jobs. Good company name to have on your resume as entry level.

    Cons

Work is absolute grunt work. A high school kid can do the same work. Full-time employees treat contract workers as if they are nothing, as if they are better than them. No eye contact is made. If one talks to you and another full time employees sees it, they feel embarrassed. This is stuff I did not think I would see in a professional corporate office environment.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like they're people. Its a hierarchy like high school in there. Very unprofessional. There is 20% chance they hire contract works who try to apply for jobs. Bloomberg is a fascist dictator.

    Pros

working in Skillman, NJ has been great.!Yes being a contract worker means you are assigned tedious work but at the same time you will find that almost anywhere starting out as an entry level employee. Aside from the tedious work, you get to listen to music and have access to amazing software so be great-full. Furthermore, you get free breakfast and lunch with free drinks and all day snack access soooo can't get much better than that

    Cons

there are no cons aside from tedious work - suck it up

    Pros

    free lunch, drinks and snacks

    Cons

No room for growth, managers do not allow you to pursue goals or learn new things. They want you to evolve with no knowledge. Hire idiots

    Advice to Management

Learn how to compensate people who work hard and do their job instead of people who only talk with nothing behind it

I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, Physicians assistant (nurse) on site, Free food, snacks, Etc. They team leaders encourage you to learn and further your career by providing in house classes.

    Cons

Always under a microscope. Treated like a small child. The managers seem to take all of the credit for your ideas as their own. Very little flexibility to have family/work life. Once you start making a decent salary, your Yearly reviews become quite interesting, although they supposedly pride themselves in clarity of goals/expectations, etc. Very disheartening. I wouldn't recommend to my enemy.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees that are loyal. It is a shame that you treat your employees so poorly
