    "Good"

Current Employee - Accountant I in Tampa, FL

I have been working at Bloomin' Brands full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Management will attempt to help you path your career and help you succeed. It is a fun work environment if you let it be. Company is rather generous to employees.

    Cons

Company is very corporate at times. Since going public they are more focused on the bottom line. Tenured employees usually complain about "the good ol' days were." Some projects will be implemented without proper research and stability.

    Pros

Salary, bonus, benefits, excellent opportunity for career growth.

    Cons

Politics, career/life balance, office gossip ruins work environment and flows up/down in levels of organizational hierarchy, not just horizontally.

I have been working at Bloomin' Brands full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Somewhat flexible work/life balance. A lot of paid holidays and days off. Love the food comp.

    Cons

No 401K matching, benefits are not that great for a company of this size. Very difficult to move up in the company, they prefer to hire from outside. Are immediately thrown into a job with the proper training.

I worked at Bloomin' Brands full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Hours are balanced with lifestyle. Work space is new but smaller desks and storage. Discounts on meals. Employee benefits. Team building outings. Youthful atmosphere.

    Cons

Management needs to improve best practices in the workplace especially with all of the changes that are currently going on. Creating a workplace that is safe, productive and pleasant requires a maximization of good practices and a minimization of bad practices.Saying nasty things about coworkers behind their backs undermines staff morale, creates rivalries between coworkers and generally damages the character of a workplace. Even professional and mature employees often have problems with other people, but they are aware enough to keep their destructive comments to themselves. Constructive criticism is sometimes needed, but should be presented in a constructive way to the person involved, not to someone else as a form of gossip. In addition, accounting services have been outsourced.

    I worked at Bloomin' Brands

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere, fun place to work (or pretend to), most accountants in other companies and professions work long hours and have busy seasons - you don't have that at OSI, it's more of a laid back customer call center than an accounting department, just ask all the people they just fired!

    Cons

pretty backwards in a lot of their practices. The old guard (founders) is gone and the new management is kind of a joke. Wow and I heard they laid off a ton of people recently, I am glad I got the heck out of there months ago!
