    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The starting pay was higher than expected.

    Cons

Management doesn't know how to treat employees. Must know someone to move up, not based on performance.

    Pros

    -great discount
-learned to clientele and made great client relationships
-fun experience when learning new ideas or products

I would work for them again as long as credit goals did not weigh so heavily. I shined in customer relations, not typing in info like a robot to give credit cards.

    Cons

-older coworkers are quite rude, act like they are above you when you are 30 yrs younger and have the same position
-continuing employment is based solely on credit card goals, not overall skills or ability to retain clients or sales

    Advice to Management

Focus on the employees that bring clients into the store rather than those that open credit. Credit goals are fine, but customers can't be forced to open another card and many are already cardholders, and associates shouldn't be punished for it. Senior management was fine. I often felt as though the managers were discussing employees and various issues behind the employees' backs and did not come to said employee until it was too late.

    I worked at Bloomingdale's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Good benefits. If you love shopping, this is the place to work out. We got usually 20%, sometimes 36%.
-Scheduling is good. They give it out two weeks in advanced. I had little problems with it.
-A lot of training is available.

    Cons

-The managers talk behind your back. A lot. Watch out for what you say. Most things that any manager will say of you will be negative.
-Managers play favorites. Even if someone is negatively impacting the work environment, it that person is friends with a manager, they will stay in the company regardless of the complaints.
-Training was poor. The company has many resources, but the managers did little to give me access to these resources, or let me know of its existence.
-Overall, the management was poor. The store has done poorly. They blame the sales associates, but it's really their lack of vision.

    Advice to Management

-Stop micromanaging and giving mostly negative comments.
