    Pros

    Great friends and generous discounts

    Cons

staff gossips (even management), spotty management, constant change in management, no room for growth, high turnover rate, will fire you on unfair grounds, your loyalty to them measures to nothing

    I worked at Bloomingdale's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    got paid every week !

    Cons

    -Bad management
    -Negative and sometimes racist co-workers
    -Overworked for little pay
     -Draw Vs. Commission sucks
    - Some managers are very airy and have no clue what they are doing especially on the second floor in the Y.E.S department
-The union sucks! and will not do much for you
-Managers will abuse part timers and option 5 ( people who only work evening and weekends) to the max when it comes to scheduling.
-People in Hr are dumb and don't know much. The assistants who work in front desk will always give you the wrong info and back track when they are wrong instead of admitting their faults and fixing it especially when it comes to your checks, vacation time and comp hours.
-There is too much politics on the sales floor and a lot of co-workers who are trump supporters who will rub it in your face.
-No room for growth and managers will not look out for you when it comes to promotions even if you deserve it..... so don't hold your breath!

    Advice to Management

-Stop throwing your employees under the bus when you are wrong, especially
employees that work hard and put so much into the company.
    - Every employee should be treated fair and equally. Stop with the favoritism!

Associates are great to work with, like family.

    Cons

Management is terrible. They only think of themselves. They all leave early and not put in a full shift but yet get rid of you if your caught walking out on a break.

    Advice to Management

Revamp management each and every one of them starting from the main guy up on top at the fashion valley store.

I have been working at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get paid once a week. That's the only plus. The discounts can be good. But that's only because they want you're hard earned money back.

    Cons

Management Micro Mini Manages and does not care about your well being. You are a 7 digit number. The "company" does not hire from within. You will regret your decision to work with this ratchet, I hesitate to call organization.

    Advice to Management

Treat you people better . Take care of you're people, and they will take care of you.

    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount. 401k plan (only if you work FT)

    Cons

Toxic environment. I didn't even fully comprehend how awful this company treats its employees until I left. I don't even know where to begin so I'll list the 3 most prominent issues.

    1. NO work-life balance whatsoever. This is retail, so obviously you are making a choice to miss out on weekends and holidays. However, whenever I did try to request any time off - always for a brief time and only during the slowest weeks - it was a HUGE battle. Also, don't even think about calling in sick if you're a manager. I called in sick ONCE in a desperate situation and was asked to come in anyway. I physically couldn't so they took away one of my vacation days - without telling me.

    2. Little to no recognition or appreciation. I tried to thank and recognize my employees as much as possible because this is NOT an easy job. You are worked very very hard for long periods of time and a day rarely goes by without an unruly customer interaction. However, I was encouraged and coached by upper management to be harder on my team and to reprimand them more often - even my most hardworking and highest sellers. When I left, the only people that thanked me were my employees and my peers. Upper management acted like I no longer existed, despite the incremental amount of success and business I had brought to the store.

    3. NO growth. Growth is rare. And when it does happen, it's political. It's very frustrating as a hardworking employee to watch others who don't work hard move up with ease because they know how to suck up to upper management. Given that most people in upper management seem to have no soul, I just couldn't do this. If you can put that aside, then you might have success here.

This company does not take care of their people. It's actually really sad. I wish I had left a really long time ago. Both my mental and physical health changed completely since I moved on.

    Advice to Management

Please try to remember that your employees are humans.

    Pros

They give you a little Side pay

    Cons

Management sucks. Nobody cares about the children's department. They hire a whole bunch of idiots . The senior executives walk around act all busy they're all fake nobody cares . There's no business. Not even holiday season because they flood the selling floor with seasonal employees. Also that company is very racist. Sales associates are slaves most of them black . No black managers

    Advice to Management

Quit ur jobs because u suck

    Pros

They can't fire because they have to pay unemployment which is more than what they pay you a salary.

    Cons

You are treated like garbage. Talked down to by the management and expected to lie to customers.

    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Employee discount (if you can afford it, unlikely)
Ability to make friends, if you are there long enough
    Invisibility, yes it's a pro

    Cons

Unbelievable level of abuse from senior management towards anyone not in favor at the moment, including DMM level. If you've fallen out of good graces you are bullied, harassed and made miserable. Childish retributions and attacks from top (GMM and above) levels of management. Inability to recognize their faults and act on them.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate your priorities and focus on your people. End the favoritism. Persecution is not a good motivator. Be honest.

    Pros

Narcissists and psychopaths will thrive and be promoted. There are many very nice and hard working people who work there, but they will not last in leadership positions.

    Cons

You will already be invested in your experience there before you realize how super skeevy it is to work there.

    Advice to Management

    Give honesty a try.
