    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The discount and the nice coworkers are the only pro to working here, the management is absolutely ridiculous. The discount is a standard 20% but they will have special events and pick categories to discount, sometimes up to 50% off. The reality is the company keeps lowering the sales plan so when they get desperate for sales they increase the employee discount.

    Cons

Where to begin!!!! The management is the BIGGEST problem in this company! People who should be looked up to as leaders are the biggest joke (Willow Grove to be exact). It's so sad because I had such high hopes, expectations, and standards when I came here, within 4 months I saw it for was it was. Management quits then they hire morons from outside the company to run this place. They DO NOT promote from within unless you are in the executive training program. This is a complete toxic environment to work in and be prepared for high stress, turnover, and overall miserable coworkers. "Misery loves company" applies here, everyone hates this place and complains to each other. I honestly couldn't tell you one employee who hasn't been burned, screwed over, or just overall treated like crap. Smart people run stupid people stay working in this environment!!! If you need to start your "career" sure it can be tolerated for a while but DO NOT think for a minute that you will grow here let alone get your performance reviews. The only hope that can save this place is a new leader of the building!!!

    Advice to Management

Start acting like leaders and everything will fall into place!

    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generous double discount days and paid vacation time.

    Cons

Very little advancement, management is demoralizing and unsupportive, business managers and sales associates aren't given the tools to succeed, store manager has unrealistic expectations, clientele are vile, no sick time, no overtime or holiday pay

    Advice to Management

Stop encouraging the opportunistic behavior with clientele and have a consistent return policy.

    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Draw against commission is very tough, you have to be used to it. Staff is very competitive and have been there for years. Management doesn´t watch your back, all they want is to meet quotas. Terrible atmosphere and culture, just about the money! Colleagues steal your sales, right there and then, Unbelievable.

    Cons

Great location, good benefits, awesome discounts and sales, o.k. cafeteria. Aventura Mall is a good Mall to be at.

    Advice to Management

take a look at your people! Team work will meet your quotas even better, not this cut throat atmosphere. Try it! Draw against commission ild old and outdated, it just doesn´t work, customers feel awkward and invaded, they just leave and will go and buy somewhere else. Take care of your people, it is about time!

I have been working at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a fast paced environment. You are exposed to a lot of people. Both coworkers and customers alike. There is a lot of independence and you have power or control in you day to day expectations.

    Cons

Moving up within the company is difficult. They have a tendency to higher outside the company rather then promote within. This has lead to some under qualified people into positions of authority. There is also a lot of favoritism displayed with certain managers and employees, which, can be aggravating.

    Advice to Management

You have a lot of talent right in front of you that is continuously overlooked. You are hiring out of convenience, not for skill. Management is hiring their friends. They new employees do not have a strong work ethic and are lacking the qualifications for their positions. Errors are being made and overlooked because of these personal relationships.

    I worked at Bloomingdale's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers; pleasant surroundings; above average pay; generous merchandise discounts

    Cons

Telemarketing expectations disguised as client sales; very little diversity in management team; chronically inept HR

    Advice to Management

    Too many sales; expecting sales associates to call, text and email customers every time there is a sale is a poor marketing strategy and only serves to irritate customers;

I have been working at Bloomingdale's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's like a family and the discount is good and the schedule is excellent from morning, closing and mid-shifts. Everyone asks other associates for assistance when needed.

    Cons

Can't grow within the company and the pay is too little was expecting a better raise. The management needs help and merchandising selection is horrible!! No matter how times I've input my opinion it doesn't matter at all.

    Advice to Management

Know what you are doing in an island that is mainly tourist based

    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The product is fabulous. The lines they carry are high end and special. They also offer an in house brand that is affordable and on trend. The diversity of fellow associates was admirable. They hired many different people from all races, background and LGBTQ communities.

    Cons

In one month i had 3 different managers. The training is little to none and most girls in my department were lazy and un-motivated. The commission is a joke. The "company" loans you a minimum dollar amount and anything over that minimum is your commission. Often times your paycheck would amount to less than minimum wage after all the returns are processed and you paid back your "loan" amount. Sounds like loan sharking.oh, and they hire people with zero experience just to look "diverse"

    Advice to Management

Create a better training program with a mentoring manager. Create some sense of ownership within each department and pay your people enough so employees can actually feel they are being recognized .

I worked at Bloomingdale's (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing products, fantastic clients, great employee discount, full suite of Macy's, Inc. benefits & entitlements

    Cons

Mostly c-team employees at all levels, culture of oppression, degradation, friction, belittlement, archaic technology platforms, abysmal compensation for top sales performers is fatal flaw

    Advice to Management

Shareholders must oust ineffective senior leadership and terminate all horrific local store "middle managers"
