    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. There are many opportunities to advance with the company. All around fun and exciting place to work.

    Cons

There are not any cons that I can name at this time since everything was so great everyone was so helpful to me getting adjusted my first week of employment

    Advice to Management

keep up the good work this is by far the best job I have ever had which makes it fun and not like actual work.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The people I work with are great and fun. I look forward to seeing them everyday. The customers...not so much.

    Cons

The return policy is very lax, so Bloomies tells us one thing during training (return everything with a smile) but on the floor its completely different. They dont prepare you for when a customer will attempt to return something with the tags switched, how to spot fake brands, etc. Its frustrating your first month there because you will return something, it ends up being a fake, and you get into trouble. Also, they refuse to cut off accounts of people who abuse the policy and we don't get any support if we refuse to return something.

    Advice to Management

Better return policy equals better customer service and happies employees.

    Pros

wonderful, kind people who are very easy to work with and be around.

    Cons

Overall, I really have no complaints.

    Advice to Management

The leadership at Bloomingdale's has done an excellent job. They offer wonderful merchandise and a friendly staff. Also, the way the merchandise is presented is very well done.

    Pros

Great company. Aspirational leadership model. Senior executives are present and very encouraging. Rewards are plentiful and you get out what you put in.

    Cons

A lot of balls being juggled. You can easily drown if you don't know how to balance what at times seems like conflicting priorities.

    Advice to Management

Bloomingdale's leadership team is made up pf a great group of people. My only advice is that the greatness flood downwards, as well.

    Pros

Of course the number one reason to work at Bloomingdale's is the people- for the most part everyone is so friendly and they are experts in their department. They're really about relationship building and I think everyone can appreciate that. It's a really fun working atmosphere and having a great discount doesn't hurt either.

    Cons

There really aren't many. For the most part you have to work most weekends, but you've got to expect that in retail.

    Advice to Management

I really think Bloomingdale's does a great job of running a business and rewarding it's employees. A highlight for me was being introduced to the book Mandela's Way. I think it would be great to incorporate more workshops based on different chapters of that book because there really are endless lessons to be learned from it from employees on every level.
