I am exactly what this company are looking for, very hard working man, always willing to help and get the job done on time, never been late or call out off work and I'm all about team work because that's what makes It better.

      Cons

Politics within upper management, slow growth.

      A Managerial Disaster

Dec 21, 2018 - Software Engineer in New York, NY

      Business Outlook

      Pros

The biggest has to be the great people I worked with. All were smart, personable, and driven. I had a great manager who was always supportive and willing to address issues. Some of my former co-workers are my best friends. One of the more diverse companies I've worked for

      Cons

Upper management is a mess. There's no direction, goals seemed to change every few weeks, and no one was ever on the same page. Major year long projects were canceled after completion because people forgot to determine if they would actually be profitable. It was unbelievable. They were never truthful. Obviously we could see that the company was doing badly by looking at the collapse of the stock price and the abysmal earnings calls. The CEO always framed it as if the market wasn't seeing something and that we were actually on the path to profitablity. Obviously not, because the stock is now a penny stock and still sinking. Morale is at rock bottom. Before and after the second round of layoffs (Nov 2018), tons of important employees left the company. Within weeks of the latest layoff, 5+ extremely important engineers left. There's no money to hire anyone and those that are experienced have either left the company or are looking. They're outsourcing to fill many of the positions, which is a red flag. Benefits weren't good. No 401K match and ok health insurance. Honestly would be shocked if the company is around in two years.

      Awful.

      Pros

Fresh food giveaways, ample break times, benefits

      Cons

Supervisors were treated just as bad as associates. I don’t mind a cold work environment, but it was brutally cold there. Injuries were frequent. Never enough supplies to do the job, or machines always failed. Most production plans were never properly thought through. The culture was absolutely awful. “Unlimited” time off that was offered, was actually very limited. And upper management was never around.

I dreaded everyday from beginning to end. I would never in life work here again.

      Pros

The entry level associates are down to earth and make the time fun. The pay was okay.

      Cons

The Corporate team (founders included) and upper management were very unprofessional, rude, overly aggressive, and racist at times. I've witness GMs and AGMs intoxicated and belligerent in the middle of the day on site.

Better off at plated, good eggs or home chef

      Pros

Some of the employees are the best you will ever find at a company

      Cons

Growth is only available if you are favored by upper management. Rock the boat and you are put in the dog house. Communication between upper management to lower management is horrible. You are asked to do a higher role constantly and not get paid for it, or get anything for it. Then once the role is over they throw you back to your regular role and tell you, you don't meet their expectations at the end of the year.

      Challenging Growing Changing

Sep 1, 2015 - Warehouse Associate in Richmond, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

The company is growing very fast, a lot of new faces and managers and supervisors who seem to care and listen to my concerns and act. Management is communicating and keeps us informed of all the changes and things happening. Better security and entrances should be better. Plant is being organized to keep up with growth and I see improvements, we have free lunches! snacks after rallys and meetings

      Cons

There have been some security problems with lazy and employees (temps) who have come recently, but problems seem to be addressed by the upper management. Some see the changes as bad but I think they will help us forward. Getting to the parking lot is worse because we have to drive around the building. Environment is cold to work in and a lot of people don't care and are only here for quick money

      Great company, bad vision

Feb 27, 2019 - Production Supervisor in Richmond, CA

      Pros

Great co workers, the regular staff really pays attention to what's going on and they will always help you as long as you help them.

      Cons

Management is disconnected with the team. Upper management is always changing and promotions are dangled like carrots, but when you prove your worth they give the promotion to their favorites.

      Pros

The "associates", if you will, (non-management positions) are mostly wonderful, smart, supportive people. Snacks Blue Apron discount

      Cons

Profit-over-everything became the clear approach since a few months before the IPO and it definitely affected the culture and work environment There is very little recognition and it relies mostly on whether you're liked or not. They started an evaluation process that is very hypocritical and one-sided, assessing performance in relation to the display and application of company's values when achieving your business goals, when none of those values are displayed towards, or in the benefit of, the employees Very little equality and almost no diversity, especially in upper management C-Suite is horrible at managing expectations and this stems from very poor communication Morale is very low and there is a pervasive feeling that there is no interest in improving it

      Institutionalized racism and high turnover

Dec 4, 2014 - Team Lead in Richmond, CA
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Management are offered handsome salaries and perks and a private office with keycard entry. Growth potential within management is likely with a rapidly growing company combined with a high turnover rate. A thriving start-up with seemingly limitless cash flow, and young leaders.

      Cons

-Churn and burn outlook with both lower management and hourly employees - revolving door policy of hiring hourly associates for unskilled labor jobs -High turnover of management rate likely due to unrealistic production goals, hostile attitudes and behavioral issues of many associates, and a lack of formal job descriptions -Extreme cold temperatures -Strict dress code -Ambiguous guidance from HR and upper management -Currently operating without a GM or AGM -Constant security camera supervision -Employees frequently complain of food poisoning related symptoms from the food served, likely due to improper food handling and holding temperatures -Factory is located in a bad neighborhood, with train tracks occasionally blocking access to facilities -Incredible amounts of food and packaging waste, with zero attempts at conventional recycling or efforts to donate to local charities -Racial issues abound with a predominantly white management staff
