I have been working at Blue Chip Marketing Worldwide full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great culture and company values! Blue Chip cares about and takes care of its employees. Blue Chip has soft benefits which provide a great work and life balance to all employees throughout the company. We have the ability to work from home, when we have need/reason. When used in moderation and with purpose, work from home does not dilute our collaborative culture, but allows for life to happen and not disrupt our team...

    Cons

The company has grown quickly and there are expected and understood growing pains associated with fast and furious needs for change. Communicating the business need for some changes seems challenging, at times. Benefits are a bit pricey, if you need to cover your family.

    Advice to Management

Keep Leading Strong! Keep your pulse on the ever-changing needs of your employees and keep innovating creative, progressive ideas internally. The result, with happy and engaged employees, will be great client work!

    Pros

decent PTO offering and some decent people

    Cons

Toxic environment to work in due to a culture that is taking a fast downturn. grew too fast, then could not get any new business for 2 years which resulted in awful overall culture and reduction in force. Too many cliques. Top management and senior leaders don't seem to know how to run the company, decisions truly are made by favoritism, but always claimed to be for the best interest of the company- and never really...

    Pros

Free ice cream and the web production team.

    Cons

Poor leadership, mismanagement of projects, lack of transparency with employees, and toxicity between departments. Leadership's lack of knowledge when it comes to digital guidance and spewing out design/dev words they find from doing simple Google web searches and claiming they are experts. Gutting out the UX team and handing out UX deliverables to incompetent copywriters. "Leadership" obviously playing favoritism, ignorant...

Company had (note the past tense - HAD) a great culture. - Overall great people to work with and hang out with outside of work. - Some managers genuinely care and want to see you grow and listen to your feedback (but... see cons) - Web dev team was tightly-knit (but... see cons). Lunch as a team almost every day - Flexible work schedule for the most part (but... see cons) - If you are not sure what you want to...

How do you burn out talented professionals? Hire them with a grand vision, have them work on work that is not interesting to them, and hire management that doesn't have any clue about what their teams actually do. Then consistently fail to recognize the top performers, while at the same time promoting and applauding barely-functional office drones. A previous Glassdoor review nailed it: "all the people you love to work...

    Advice to Management

    - Focus on long-term sustainable growth. If you care about short-term profits so much, close down the entire office, "lay off" everyone, and outsource all your work to India. - Listen to feedback and take employee concerns seriously. Just because people don't take their concerns directly to HR doesn't mean they don't exist. - Don't hire charlatans and when you do, cut them loose quickly.

    Pros

Fun core dev team( talking about developers ), easy workflow, nice office.

    Cons

You won’t improve your skillset or learn new stuff if you are not entry/junior developer. You won’t need to use your 100% potential. Directors of the team are unfortunately clueless about technology, sadly web development. Since they don’t have any idea what’s going on, they google some stuff and come up with very funny stuff like “Oh, PHP is dead, we should use a different backend language”. This indeed makes them look...

    Pros

Slower paced in comparison to most competitive agencies. Work/life balance was amazing.

    Cons

Management is a bit of a crap shoot. More often than not you are paired someone who won’t help you grow or develop your skill set. Coincidentally enough there isn’t much in the way of opportunity for advancement at the mid level so it doesn’t really matter anyways. All of the men on the creative team are in positions of power while all the women are in lower level positions. This is not an accident. It’s 2018 Blue Chip......

    Advice to Management

You have continually watched mid level talent walk out the door because you refuse to cultivate their skill set or give them any opportunity for advancement. Ultimately the turn over costs associated with not investing in your employees is hurting your business.

      Pros

      - Truly a 9-5 job. At least 80% of the employees are out by 5:01pm. You can also work 8-4 or 10-6 if you'd like. Needless to say, the work/life balance is very solid. - It's a privately owned company, and I do believe the leadership when they say that they intend to remain privately owned. - Pretty good office culture. Leadership tries their best to keep everyone connected and happy with monthly all-office meetings...

      Cons

      - If you apply to a job here, you'll surely be told about the city office and flexible work from home policy, but know that you are required to be in the Northbrook office a minimum of 2 days per week, and often will need to be there 3 or 4 times per week. - It's a total crapshoot what type of manager you'll get. There are certainly quality managers there that'll have your back and help you grow. But there are others...

      Pros

Incredibly nice coworkers. Most of the people I worked with were social and fun to hang out with. Pay was good and health care benefits were nice. BCBS and Guardian dental. Fridge is stacked with la croix and their coffee was better than average.

      Cons

Way too many meetings. You'll have at least 3 meetings a day regardless of role. Their agile process is overdone. Had very little production time because of this. Scrums were constantly derailed from discussions that went off topic. Some managers need a brush up on how to manage. Be able to lead and hold people accountable. Commute is annoying if you live in the city. The shuttle was never on time. Not the company's...
