    Pros

Easy street. If you are bright, you will be a genius around here. A lot of paid-time off. Easy to redefine your roll. Can roam the halls and network easily.

    Cons

Politics, politics and did I mention politics? Management is ego-centric. There is an old culture hear and the leaders are 20+ years in service. That is okay, but these leaders are not the cream of the crop. If you want to work with new technology, don't come here. Opprotunity for growth is lacking. Talented people are held back and some management is threatened by talent.

    Advice to Management

Get with the program. Learn and listen to your emplyees. Think outside of the box.

    Pros

Good salary and benefits (healthcare, dental, etc)

    Cons

Poor communication from senior staff. The company just did a downsizing with more to come. Little effort to engage the employees in the company's financial problems and solutions. Senior staff is isolated and Overall morale is poor, but people stay because of the economy and their paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Listen and communicate more. Come down from the ivory tower from time to time.

    Pros

benefits, stable, pension, easy to get by

    Cons

Promotions and recognition are given to people who are unskilled and incompetent but are liked by their management. If you go along with everything and don't like to use your mind you can succeed here.

    Leadership is incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes. There's a world outside of HCSC in case you havent figured it out.

    Pros

Great benefits, but they should its a health care insurance company

    Cons

They talk change but don't want it. Managers think they are your parents. 1st line management needs serious training. I never want to walk on the street where this building is located.

    Advice to Management

Shake things up! Restructure those who been there for a blissfully 25 years need new assignments or just leave. Employees are unhappy!

    Pros

If you want to live at work with a required 20 hours of overtime a week, and if you think your job is more important than your family or your health. Then HCSC is the place for you!

    Cons

Every 5 minutes they are changing guidelines on how to process claims. They don't know what in the heck they are doing! When they took over BCBS of Oklahoma everything went to Heck in a hand basket! It is amazing how such a big company as HCSC hires all these cheifs and not enough indians..and the cheifs all all taking 2 hour lunches spending all their time on 4 hour conference calls which are unneccesary! I could go on and on!!

    Advice to Management

Get a clue! process a few claims or better yet.....try processing 500 claims a day with the guidelines changing every 5 minutes and not allowed to get but 1 error on them. Oh, and on top of that...be constantly harrassed by your bosses that if you dont process the 500 claims a day with only 1 error then you will lose your job! CLASSIC!

    Pros

Good benefits, good location. Wellness program is decent.

    Cons

too much work for too few people. No work/life balance. too many cooks in the kitchen. Everyone trying to be the boss but nobody knows what their employees do.

    Advice to Management

Talent is wasted here. People are being treated like numbers rather than as employees and it's really sad. You have good people, but if things keep going the way they are, you won't have them for long.

    Pros

A good entry level position for someone how is brand new to IT
It's a good place to wait out the job market
They had a really good answer book for their systems

    Cons

Working for the ITG Service Center which is the 1st level support area can be best describe as being a teenager working at McDonald's. They treat you as if you are not to be trusted and there is very little in the way or encouragement to innovate or put any sort of effort in to the position. Managers are just there to tell you what you did wrong and threaten you with performance plan or termination. They have no clue on how to mentor anyone. Most people here worry most of time that they will be walked out at a moments notice for some arbitrary rule violation. There is a high turnover rate here. The job itself was pretty easy because it was first level and you had any type of IT experience. It's the management that makes such a horrid place to work.

    Advice to Management

Get managers who know how to mentor and know how to manage people.

Trust your people to do their jobs.

Stop treating your contractors like children and like adults

Mag Mile and Lakefront view at Corporate headquarters

    Cons

No career training/mentoring programs in place for career advancement

Poor management skills and employee interaction

    Do not promote worklife balance

    Advice to Management

Develop a mentoring & career development program to develop employees seeking to advance within the company to retain good employees

    Pros

Some nice people to work with

    Cons

-too many managers and supervisors sitting around doing nothing
    - very low pay
    - hired analyst with no experience and expected us to train them (they made same salary as us)
    - micro management
    - tried to tell you to take shorter lunches or breaks to get back on the phones
    - Pomeroy IT ran this operation so bad that HCSC went with Technisource after Pomeroy contract ended.

    Advice to Management

    Go find a real job.
So glad to see most those managers and supervisors have to look for other contracts within Pomeroy once the contract ended. Most were way too comfortable within their position and actually were delusional to think they were actually HCSC employees.
