I have been working at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

For those that do the legwork, there’s a lot of growth and mentoring programs that can enable you to network with leaders elsewhere in the company. Tuition reimbursement for all levels is very generous.

    Cons

Internal movement is very hard. There are lots of entry level, $35-$45k type jobs, and a handful of director and other speciality jobs that prefer graduate degrees and years (10+) of experience. In between is normally solicited and hired within a respective department. Also, because this is such a good company to work for, very few people leave their current roles. Those that do will easily have 10,20,more applying...

I worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts for more than a year

    Pros

They have a parking garage, so you never have to clear snow off your car. Beautiful building, especially the cafeteria. Really great place to work if you have a relative working there already.

    Cons

I left a long term job to work at BC for more money. During orientation, it was clear that most of my new coworkers had no idea that the job they signed up for was a call center job. Advice to Management

People aren't disposable. You treat people like they are worthless trash that you throw away on a whim. These people have children to support and bills to pay. The only people who get treated fairly are those with connections.

I have been working at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great Co-Workers. Offer professional training classes.

    Cons

Micro-managed, not very good pay, no encouragement to advance. Often times employees are lied to in order to make the environment appear positive and encouraging but really they just want you to be chained to your desk and do the job until your completely burnt out. Favoritism is the only thing that will assist your career if management likes you, your given all opportunities regardless of your work ethic or knowledge....

    Advice to Management

Get new management pay your employees what they are worth and take notice of what people actually produce rather than who'd you like to hang with after work in regards to career opportunities. Also let your employees advance and encourage them to do so.
