I have been working at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent starting salary. Lots of training and potential to move up in the company. You meet a lot of great people in the department. Managers care about your career and will help you find opportunities outside of your role.

    Cons

18 month commitment to the role is excessive. It's a call center role which is not for everyone. Role can get stressful having to deal with people's medical claims. Any call could potentially put you over the edge. There isn't a lot of "freedom" in the role, you sit for hours in your cube and take calls all day.

    Advice to Management

Offer more career development for entry level employees.

I worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts for more than a year

    Pros

They have a parking garage, so you never have to clear snow off your car. Beautiful building, especially the cafeteria. Really great place to work if you have a relative working there already.

    Cons

I left a long term job to work at BC for more money. During orientation, it was clear that most of my new coworkers had no idea that the job they signed up for was a call center job. During training class, the arrogant young trainer made sure she knew which people had a relative working there--they would be the protected ones. Trainer began pretending that I couldn't catch...

    Advice to Management

People aren't disposable. You treat people like they are worthless trash that you throw away on a whim. These people have children to support and bills to pay. The only people who get treated fairly are those with connections.

I worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Benefits, salary , pretty easy, ?

    Cons

Call Center, expected to be a machine, take tons of calls, make no mistakes (unless they like you, then you are all set) Kiss butt to get anywhere or get OT, then get used and abused.

    Advice to Management

    we hate you.
