    Pros

Great people who will go out of their way to help you develop and grow as a person. They also have a budget for training every year.

    Cons

Totally lost on what today's IT looks like. They fall prey to buzz words and ideas that are not applicable to the industry.

I worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Smart people, flexible work environment

    Cons

Lack of regard or respect for employee's profession and professionalism. Organization driven by job-titles and egos, not by true thoughtful strategic insight or consideration. General underlying internal concensus is that your experience, expertise, insight and\or intellectual contributions will not be respected, accepted, regarded or even considered unless you have the highest-level job-titles to validate your ability (and right) to use your brain. - anything less; your brain is not valid nor entitled to have ideas or thoughts. A very arbitrarily arrogant culture.

    Advice to Management

Cultural paradigm shift recognizing that professional competence and validity of ideas, insights and contributions is not constricted solely to multi-syllable, acronym'ed (ED, VP, etc.) job-titles.

I worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was recommended by senior management at home office to help build out a remote office outside of Chicago and company that was going captive with BCBS was unwilling to spend the money to build out a call center, spend the dollars needed. Then the main product wasn't approved for last year for the counties outside of Rockford.

    Cons

Our hands were tied and since I was on commissions based on $50k - being a draw on future commissions. Program wouldn't have gone forward for a year and I wasn't willing to wait.

    Advice to Management

Great company - if I could I'd love to work with you again.
