Pros
The people here are wonderful. Management is transparent, to the extent possible, and very approachable. My Manager and Director show a real interest in me as a person and my work/life balance. The company has a great mission and truly seems to want to do the right thing. They have multiple employee resource groups that frequently offer special programs with guest speakers.
Cons
Our tools could use some improvement but they're always being worked on. The process for change is a little slow though.

Pros
At Blue Shield the people matter. Yes, the work is important and must get done. However, leadership understands that happy employees, employees who are fully engaged in their work, are more consistent and work with purpose. Accordingly, work/life balance is important and Blue Shield makes that possible with flexible work schedules and remote work opportunities. Blue Shield is also very competitive with compensation and benefits. I've been employed with Blue Shield for more than 10 years. I hope to never work anywhere else.
Cons
I cannot think of a single negative thing about working for Blue Shield.
