I have been working at Blue Technologies full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Salary plus commissions. Great manager in the Columbus office but all the owners/managers are awesome! They really care about their sales staff and take good care of them. Great opportunity in the Columbus market and endless opportunities to make great money!

    Cons

Tough business. You have to have thick skin to do this job. You have to be ready and willing to put in 110% effort and be self motivated.

I worked at Blue Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Provides some of the best boot camp for sales you can get Some of the managers are great people Get to start up a book of business Wonderful entry-level opportunity where you can make decent money

    Cons

Company didn't seem to have a plan for the next few years other than to sell more product There's a LOT of turnover and there's basically no real opportunity for growth I noticed a few issues with integrity while I was there Management was lacking in a few areas. If they changed, they might keep people longer. People aren't cookie-cutters and management shouldn't be "one size fits all." The culture needs an overhaul....

    Advice to Management

Paul has had a lot of success in the time he's been in business, and you don't get to where he is without a lot of hard work and dedication. He's learning to be more patient, which is great. I just think that he has the tendency to be short-sighted and generally afraid of change. You're not selling to baby boomers anymore, you're selling to gen X. They understand what a copier looks like and how it works. Show them how...

    Pros

Decent first job to put on resume Recruiters will call you all time

    Cons

Zero Sales knowledge by senior management. They still operate like a copier company in 1986. Do not have the ability to deliver on ANY of the solutions or services that we sell. No professional career plan for sales reps No transparency in commissions Comp plans change every year HORRIBLE culture that is demoralizing to new people in the industry. Racist and inappropriate comments by ownership occur in every meeting....

    Advice to Management

My advice would be that every time that somebody puts advice and comments on a website like this, don’t have the same person respond with the same canned statements that have been used for years. Turnover is over 60 % year over year on the sales team and yet you refuse to accept any accountability for what happens here day to day. You expect us to go out an sell solutions and services that you know can not be supported....

    Pros

Nothing, really. Not even the free coffee tastes good.

    Cons

Where do I start? If you enjoy being physically threatened, micro-managed, talked to and treated like a small child: apply today. If you are looking for a career, a professional environment where you have a true sales role, this is not the place for you! The training program is taught by a past kindergarten teacher that has never sold, doesn’t understand the equipment and has no desire to adjust the sails to the trending...

    Advice to Management

Wake up! Adjust to 2018 and get rid of the garbage you call management, teach practices that grow business professionals and not a bunch of scared children afraid of speaking the truth. The organization is loosing money because of it’s practices and lack of structure and because the owner is too egotistical. It is also loosing money and talented professionals because in 2018 organizations don’t buy copiers, they buy solutions...

I worked at Blue Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The training is tough and so is the job overall. It will take your sales game to another level. So use the company as a stepping stone to your next b2b job, but don't stay there and let them abuse you and stress you to death.

    Cons

Disgusting level of politics/sexism, employees sleeping with each other etc., all that kinda mess. Rumor mill is always full there. There's more focus on drama than on doing actual work. Very stressful as a sales rep, hounding management with little or poor guidance. All the lies of "unlimited potential". Things are very limited as far as deals and money. Making a deal on their copiers takes a ridiculous amount of...

    Advice to Management

Quit fraternizing with employees, learn to keep lines separate. Stop acting like you care about reps and their lives when you really don't or can't. Learn how to manage people properly, improve motivators. Just stop selling reps and be honest. Up the base salary if you want to keep anyone who's actually worth it.

I have been working at Blue Technologies

    Pros

Owners truly want you to be successful and care about your personal life. Owner also has genuine philanthropic values. Most technology solutions sold at Blue are top notch. It's a great place to develop toughness and old school b2b sales techniques/experience. If they believe in you, they will do their best to help you succeed.

    Cons

Culture is not suited for the millennial personality who desires a collaborative, innovative, tech driven, & fun environment. Overall lacks professionalism. Don't expect to find a mentor here. Despite training, it's pretty much a figure it out yourself or fail environment. Things have to be dramatic in order to get accomplished, because support staff in Cleveland is spread so thin. Almost, everything is a battle, not...

    Advice to Management

Implement the technology you sell and make it a priority. Stop looking at base salary for sales reps as a cost and start valuing their ability to represent you in front of your customers and the communities they sell in. Account management is a real thing, your reps also create name recognition for your company when they do phone or door to door calls. So compensate them for EVERY sale regardless of whether they pay you...

I have been working at Blue Technologies

    Pros

The ability to earn Net New business and feel the accomplishment of succeeding. Building strong rapport for future clients at the same time making sure my current customers are more than happy with my product and the services we provide.

    Cons

The structure of the company is weak. I feel as though I am a work horse with a saddle on its back not allowing me to earn more business like I strive to do.

    Advice to Management

Look at why their employees may not last more than a year. Turn around time is terrible.

I have been working at Blue Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This company offers a decent salary and carries a good product line. Good facility and entertaining Christmas parties

    Cons

Meetings are belittling and upper management beats their people up. A lot of smoke and mirrors in the compensation department

    Advice to Management

Use constructive criticism to build up your team rather than ripping them down and expecting good results.

    Pros

Great bonus structure it seems if you are successful.

    Cons

You have to use your own personal laptop and cell phone although they do give you a $50 phone credit. They actually have panty hose as part of the dress code and enforce it. There is a monthly Wednesday evening meeting for those in Cleveland and quarterly for Columbus office. You get 0 vacation or sick days your first year. You can take them unpaid but have to be there for a year to get reimbursed. After a year you...

I worked at Blue Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The owners drive really expensive cars and wear expensive suits to show off "success". I guess that's a pro for them.

    Cons

Too many to list, but let's just say it's sleazy. They hire a bunch of people then fire or force out people and the process repeats itself. 1 in 4 new hires makes it past one year...they will tell you that AFTER you're hired.

    Advice to Management

Stop reminiscing about the old days of football or when you sold typewriters or how you only missed one month of commission ever and provide your sales people a service they can stand behind in the sale to go along with a decent product (Xerox is still better).
