    Staff and teamwork is great

    Pay is below average for state of Kansas; training for general ed is great, special ed training not specific to job.

    Great families/students, many amazing colleagues, learning environment

    Cons

    Not always supportive of best teaching practices or teachers, parents run the schools, each school has a distinct culture - some better than others

    Pros

    The district and elementary school I work for are excellant examples of what education can and should be. I love what I do!

    Cons

    The salary I receive is very low. There should be more compensation for experience and dedication.

    -Support from the district
    -Good benefits
    -Summers off

    -Workload (you must really be all in for your job and your life must be your job)
    -Difficult parents
    -High case loads

    Advice to Management

    Don't try to stretch your teachers, you will end up just making people quit.

    I have been working at Blue Valley Unified School District full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    I work as a Paraeducator and I love my job. The kids are great and the school is great.

    Cons

    The only down side I would say is the pay, which is understandable and expected when you work at a public school in kansas.

    Advice to Management

    I don't know what I would offer any advice other than keep what you're doing! I work for a great school and great kids!

    Professional Development opportunities, school hours, quality school system,

    Cons

    pay rate, tension among the staff (at least at the school I was at), poor communication at times

    Advice to Management

    Please include the paras in staff meetings, be clear about expectations on days that have a change in schedule, communicate more so we are prepared to handle certain student situations

    Depending on your building assignment, the culture can be great. Opportunities for professional development. Benefits are great.

    Positive working environment. Lots of opportunity for growth in career within the district. Training and development opportunities. Polite co-workers. Administration genuinely cares for their employees.
