I have been working at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and decent wages, positive is this company is involved in support of community charities more than many and encourages and supports employees’ participation and involvement in those of most interest to the employee.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations for employee goals, time and productivity is an issue in certain situations, an employee can do quality performance and not make production in a measured time period and regardless of ability, their knowledge base of the work subject or genuine efforts, lose credit for work performance for those claims or work load due to factors and corporate policies and procedures beyond their control to remedy or correct.

    Advice to Management

BCBS’s corporate culture and requirements are not paramount to all other aspects of an employee’s life concerns, corporate requirements and goals being secondary in importance is acceptable.

I have been working at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company for IT professionals in South Carolina. Plenty of room to grow throughout your career and nice flexibility to move within the company to other technical areas. Also, they have a good entry level program for recent college graduates. Salary's for the IT division are exceptional for the low cost of living in South Carolina.

    Cons

Sr. management need to do a better job of communicating with the rank and file. Also, the culture of the leadership can get rather political.

    Advice to Management

Directors and higher need to do a better job of communicating down the chain as well as making the employees feel appreciated.

I worked at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My Supervisors and Coworkers were amazing. We worked well as a team. If I needed anything my Supervisors worked with me. I really hated to leave but moved out of the area.

    Cons

    The pay and turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to get the CSAs to want to stay in the area and not want to move on. Area morale goes a long way.

    Pros

    Fantastic coworkers
    Fantastic management
    Good benefits
    Cafeteria Wing Day

    Cons

Experience varies greatly depending on your manager and director. I had a fantastic person for each. Other of my peers not so fortunate. Process can choke productivity, but once you build relationships, most red tape can be mitigated.

    Advice to Management

Respect the good managers, rrcognize and demote the bad managers. The benefits of this will trickle down to the rest of the personnel.
