I have been working at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Average pay and some managers allow flex time

    Cons

Benefits have steadily declined over the years. Salaries have always been below market average but people accepted that due to excellent benefits. These have been slowly chipped away in the past few years.

I worked at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great health care benefits, vision, dental, generous PTO

    Cons

Department managers had their favorite employees, usually the ones with most seniority, but would sometimes favor new hires who were overly ambitious and ignore everyone else. No suggestions from the rest were taken seriously. Self-esteem took punishment.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN to all your employees. Not just the chosen few.

This is a vibrant, relevant company that takes a lot of pride in being a valuable member of the community in which it exists -- across the entire state. Good, fair pay, good benefits, excellent physical environment.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to how jobs are graded across different organizations for the same level of work.

    Pros

Good pay and lots of opportunity to advance. Plenty of jobs to choose from one you get your foot in the door.

    Cons

The rotating shifts were hard to get adjusted to. Having to deal with peak season and work spikes were frustrating when short staffed.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more with employees when possible.

I have been working at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, corporate campus, company leadership, on-site gym, doctor's office, and pharmacy. 401k matching is 7.5% (if employee contributes at least 5%).

    Cons

Sometimes things can be slowed down due to bureaucracy and being in the Deep South sometimes things operate a bit old school (in terms of corporate culture).
