I worked at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay and benefits until they “reorganize” and you have to reapply for lower paying jobs.

    Cons

They bring you in with a good salary but are quick to lay off. Lots of nepotism and catty gossip. Interested in lining the executives’ pockets at the expense or the little guys and the customers.

    Advice to Management

Consider actually allowing work life balance rather than forced overtime.

I have been working at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Wellness incentives ($800/year), great health insurance options, campus has everything you need (gym, clinic, cafeteria, bank, coffee, drug store), walking track is a great excuse to get outside, plenty of parking

    Cons

Managers are hired without being the best candidates (friends of friends), Directors act as though they are invisible, firings are rare around here (it's impossible to get a bad employee out), workstations are a little dated compared to industry standards

I have been working at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Don’t have to talk to members, only talk to providers. 17 weeks of training, so there’s PLENTY of time to learn your job. Benefits are REALLY good. The best out of any insurance company. Diverse & positive atmosphere.

    Cons

Right now, the ONLY con is having to take a shuttle bus down to & up from the Gateway Building from Cameron Hill due too the “abnormal” amount of training classes. Meaning you have to leave for work way too early, have to walk so far everyday from the parking garage to the main entrance for a shuttle & vise versa after you get off. Literally you get to your car in the parking garage 20+ minutes AFTER you are after the...
