I worked at BlueLine Rental full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Had Decent Benefits When They First Acquired Us.

    Cons

Cut out most of the benefits. Could not care less about the employees, especially drivers.
They won't give you a raise but will hire your replacement who knows less for a lot more money.
Local Managers try to hire family or kids of their friends.
Policies and Procedures change like the weather.
Dedication, knowledge, good work ethic and loyalty mean absolutely nothing.
You work for them and they believe they own you and will try to control every aspect of your life.
The machinery we send out more often than not has not been serviced or even checked out.
A really large business that acts like a fly by night one.

    Advice to Management

    Quit trying to be United.
    Start treating employees like humans.
Put people in the jobs they are qualified for.

    Pros

The culture at Volvo Rents was one of people and family first. Work was very important but the atmosphere was very community oriented.

    Cons

Volvo Rents was sold and purchased by a private equity firm.

    Advice to Management

The company is no longer n existence.

I have been working at BlueLine Rental full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. That's about it. Used to be many pros to this company.

    Cons

You name it. Cutting off your nose to spite your face would be the best way to put it. As stated in a previous review, they will fire you without a second thought and replace you with someone else for much more than they were paying you (Usually someone who has been pre selected). All departments are running as slim as possible while still expecting, in most cases, unattainable goals that would otherwise be attainable if they were not consistently laying off/firing employees and running off long time employees. It may turn around but I do not see that happening anytime soon. This was once a very good company, that at one time actually cared about taking care of the customer and their people. Those days are long gone. Also, for anyone thinking of applying for a job, be ready for the most tedious and aggravating hiring process you have ever seen or heard of.

    Advice to Management

Management knows what's needs to be done, it's just a shame that they have to be concerned about their job security if they were to speak up about it. (For the ones that have even considered it)

    Pros

    Good Benefits.
The chairs spin...not much else really.

    Cons

Skeleton Crew, management has stopped giving raises, however they will hire on your direct replacement for 50% more pay.

The investment company that purchased them and changed them to Blueline is more concerned with a few cents on the dollar than keeping the employees happy. This has caused a gigantic spike in turn over.

They hollow out departments and have people doing the work of two or three people, but arnt willing to even consider a request for a raise.

There are no ways to advance, if they create a position they already have someone in mind. They tend to underpay most of the employees until a critical one leaves and they desperately need a replacement.

    Advice to Management

Give the current employees the pay they deserve and get a much more stable workforce.

I worked at BlueLine Rental full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Exceptional Culture
    Local Decision Making
    People are Valued
    Solid Benefits Package
    Solid Salary

    Cons

A few cases of cronyism and nepotism
    Unclear direction from upper management
    Lack of Clear Communication

    Advice to Management

Focus more on the long term goals of the company with clear and concise communication down to the field. Listen to regional and divisional team members as their input can be just as valuable as the VP's. Promote a network of growth and expansion with a closer eye to the current financials, demographics and culture of an acquisition.

    Good Benefits, THAT ABOUT IT.

    Cons

Impossible to move up if you hold a position you are good at unless you are friends with upper management,

    Advice to Management

Look at the employee as a employee, not as a friend. Look at the potential not there ability to kiss but and not weekend buddies.
