    Positive Outlook

I have been working at BluePearl Veterinary Partners for more than a year

    Pros

Working for BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Auburn Hills is wonderful. Its like working with family. The management is wonderful and caring. In my opinion that's what makes it a great place to work. The expectations are clear and if you have questions there is always someone willing to answer them. Everyone works as a team, a family unit all the way from management to doctors to tech's to assistants to customer... service reps. It's a happy place to work and there is always an opportunity to learn and grow!

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at BluePearl Veterinary Partners full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benefits are hard to find with other clinics/hospitals. Health insurance, dental, vision. 401K

    Cons

There is not a straight forward standard that all employees are held to. Some are expected to be responsible to work, while others can pretty much clock in and twiddle their thumbs. Compensation is a joke in comparison to work load. Negative environment and no correction to employees contributing to the toxicity.

    Advice to Management

Old habits die hard, keeping skilled and kind employees will continue to be an issue because of this. Take actual corrective action and nip the negative, lazy behavior in the bud for change.

I have been working at BluePearl Veterinary Partners full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The medicine here is great, and most of the doctors are open-minded to teaching support staff. Doctors are up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge.

    Cons

Benefits are poor. You start the year with no PTO, then accrue a grueling 3.08 hours every pay period (80 hours). One month of work doesn’t even give you enough PTO to cover one shift. Sick time is included with PTO, so god forbid you get sick while you’re saving up for vacation. Pay is strange compared to the local market. Assistants are paid a little more than minimum wage in Seattle, yet some small general... practices in town offer $20 an hour to assistants starting pay. One of many reasons for high turnover - people leave BP for easier work at GPs for higher pay. On another note, new hire technicians are offered much higher pay than existing technicians who are experienced (not to mention no one is getting raises, see below). Speaking of pay, nobody has had a raise in a year. The hospital is unionizing which is great, but as a result BluePearl is keeping everyone’s salaries in a vice grip. It could be years before a union contract is solidified and gives union members a better salary, but Seattle continues to be extraordinary expensive to live in. Local management hardly plays a role. They occasionally send emails, but often sit in their office in the dark, if they’re even at work. Their schedules seem to fluctuate and it’s hard to know when they’re even supposed to be at work. There have been days where no management has been in the clinic for 3 straight days.

    Advice to Management

Be present. Pay better. Offer better benefits. They’re simple ways to make life easier for people who work long hours saving lives.

I have been working at BluePearl Veterinary Partners full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is a profession that I love and that I am good at.

    Cons

-Minimal pay for high stress environment -Constant turnover in support staff

    Advice to Management

I recently found out that doctors are being offered $1000 PER SHIFT for incentive to pick up open slots. THAT’S MORE THAN THAN MY TWO WEEK PAYCHECK. They offer 15 cent pay raises to support staff. And they can’t figure out how to make people stay. Mean while, support staff is constantly turning over. Hmmm... Maybe offer more money? A living wage? No wonder no one wants to stay.

I have been working at BluePearl Veterinary Partners full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Care for animals and amazing co-workers

    Cons

Management again! You have to break your back for "growth" and lord forbid you do and then ask for a raise , they simply state "well thats not the attitude we're looking for"

    Advice to Management

Instead of making over 100,000 for yourselves, how about you remember what it was to be a technician or assistant trying to break your back to care for these animals and support a family and give actual raises.
