I worked at BluePearl Veterinary Partners full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Decent benefits. Decent pay. Could gain some valuable clinical experience.

    Cons

Beware of long hours, poor retirement, poor time management, sloppy payroll, and to not feel appreciated as an employee. They are very concentrated on the bottom line and could care less about the individual or quality of medicine. It’s all about the numbers! In my 5 years there I saw over 1/2 the staff that had been there for over 10 years leave. One of the founders of this company committed suicide and they didn’t even send his family a condolence card. The individual hospitals may be worth looking at, but don’t expect much from this company as a whole. They’re too big, and under-managed.

    Advice to Management

Give back to your employees. If MARS really cares, they will shut down acquisitions and focus on their hospitals that are struggling. They will reorganize and pay the people who are in the hospitals MORE than the support team.

I worked at BluePearl Veterinary Partners full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I worked with some of the best people in the industry that really cared about patient care and quality medicine. Lifelong friends to this day.

    Cons

I watched those same people become so unattached to something that they once loved. A majority of management throughout the entire organization only look out for themselves and have no backbone to defend hard working staff that commit themselves to patients Long hours without breaks or lunch on a regular basis and were made to feel bad if you went to the restroom. On-call hours were miserable with no backup to relieve you after a certain amount of hours. Complaining on the floor was an everyday occurrence while management sat in an office ignoring what was right in front of them. Everyone was always stressed out which made a very toxic work environment to be in. After giving so much of time and energy to an organization that could care less if you were there was heartbreaking.

    Advice to Management

Vale your employees that break their backs every day. Support center needs to manage their "leaders" and teach them how to lead by example instead of being part of the problem. Make the necessary changes so that patient care does not continue to be compromised. Stop rewarding people for bad behavior. Grow the support staff to support the hospitals that are still being bought even though the currents ones are still broken. Appreciate what is in front of you. Respect that you wouldn't be anywhere without them.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at BluePearl Veterinary Partners full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Trupanion paid 50%, decent health for individuals. Some CE and uniforms paid.

    Cons

Long hours, always understaffed, upper management not willing to pay for basic equipment to maintain good standard of care for hospitalized patients. Pay is not very competitive, pretty sad for million dollar corporation. High turnover rate, managers reward the bullies and doctors throw techs under the bus. They say there's room to move around but you're not supported if you try to apply for internal openings. Tampa upper management is a mess, I'm unsure of how this business is even operational. Health for families is astronomical and 401(k) matching after 5 years. Good luck trying to have a life outside of work or any family time.

I worked at BluePearl Veterinary Partners full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Gain some education through Penn Foster, Medical and dental benefits offered.

    Cons

Understaffed, lack of leadership, long hours, pay scale is low for amount of knowledge and certification required.

    Advice to Management

BP associates from home office should be hands on at each clinic. Evaluate your staff, actually care about your employees.
