I have been working at BlueShield of Northeastern New York full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent, benefits are middling for an insurance company and good luck finding your benefits.

    Cons

Poorly managed to the point of comical if not so frustrating and annoying. Pulling people from one department to train for another and totally killing stats and morale. Don't allow time to do follow up work and expect overtime to do the things they cant let you do during the shift because their workforce management is nonexistent. Favoritism is rampant. Supervisors are mostly clueless and aggressive and provide bad information and any with a brain changed departments, can't say I blame them. They hire from outside despite having well trained people but if you're not in the cliques you're not going anywhere in this company.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue. Hire first once you have numbers then crosstrain. You're killing morale, you're killing your stats and you're killing your reputation. Making employeesnwork extra hours because you cannot handle your call volume is a good way to lose good people. You should be accounting / accountable for your lack of bodies to field these calls. Think big picture

    Pros

Nothing to be honest. This company is HORRIBLE!

    Cons

Clueless supervisors, catty management and horrible call center structure. Its all about what "clique" you're a part of. Depending on how much brown nosing you do, that reflects your career path within the company. "Smile in your face, write you up" kind of company.

    Advice to Management

    Close the Latham office

    Pros

Great people to work with decent benefits and bonuses when you can get them

    Cons

management sets goals you really cant achieve. Does not value employees. Management only promotes those that are in their click. if your not in their click forget about getting any type of decent promotion unless one of theirs does not want the position.

    Advice to Management

promote those who are worthy of the position not your friends. set goals that are attainable.

    Excellent pay, benefits, and hours.

    Cons

Management can be a little over bearing.

    Advice to Management

Instead of playing favorites and letting the 'star' employees do what they want and speak to the other reps however they want treat everyone the same and give no one special treatment. Please and thanks.
