    I worked at Bluefly full-time

    Pros

Checks cleared when we were meant to be paid.

    Cons

Terrible clueless leadership , specifically the CMO/CEO/President (she has an always evolving title) who is mean, overly involves herself in day to day activities but fails to correct a rapidly sinking ship.

    No 401K Matching.

    Advice to Management

None - the situation is hopeless.

I worked at Bluefly (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was hired as a freelance designer to help with e-mails and daily web updates. I loved my team and the atmosphere, especially the movie/music video Fridays. Everyone got along and helped each other out and were very supportive with no egos.

    Cons

When it came to the actual design work, the higher ups shot down anything creative and fun. We were basically Photoshop monkeys. Because there was no Creative Director, we didn't have someone strong and loud enough to try and fight for our creativity.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the creatives! That's our job.

    Pros

Bluefly is not your typical fashion coffee run internship, here you become a crucial part of a team and get hands on experience. They have excellent mentors, people that is interested in teaching you and sharing knowledge with you, is in their best interest that you learn and accomplish tasks perfectly, and they help you do so in a warm manner.

    Cons

None, it was a positive and enriching experience. A great place to work and learn.

    Advice to Management

    keep it up!

I loved working here! The atmosphere is great and the staff members are wonderful people! They like to have fun but they're also passionate in what they do. They have amazing growth opportunities here.I learned a lot of valuable skills at Bluefly and I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity. It was great place to work.

    Cons

    Pros

It's very simple. If you are a hardworking ambitious person that wants to succeed, you will thrive at Bluefly. Coming in at 10am and leaving at 5pm won't get you anywhere, you need to work hard and put in some extra hours and with that comes rewards. The only thing Bluefly asks of it's employees is to do your best, have a presence, don't have a poor attitude, and to do your job.

    Cons

Not everyone in the office comes in every day and gives it their all, with a small company like Bluefly, everyone needs to put in their best effort.

    Advice to Management

Continue to challenge your employees and hold them accountable. The company needs more people who want to be there and less people who don't.

I worked at Bluefly full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you like "fashion" then this is a ok place to work. It could be a good place to get some experience in online retail.

    Cons

Where to begin? The infrastructure of the whole organization is non-existent to falling apart. Nepotism and fear-based decision making run rampant amongst arrogant senior management and their cohorts.

For a company that claims to be about fashion, there seems to be very little fashion sense and style. Also, the technology department is woefully out of date, like they are stuck in 2005 and unwilling to move forward or even acknowledge new advancements in the online shopping world.

So many unhappy people here, and people who are incredibly unqualified in their jobs but know they need to keep their jobs because there's no place for them at a proper company. I do not know how they keep holding on but they do.

    Advice to Management

Stop posting up your fake positive reviews. It's so transparent, it's ridiculous. Just the fact that there are so many 5 star versus 1-2 star reviews is a huge red flag (really, no middle ground?), but I don't expect the management to know any better since they've been drinking the kool aid for so long.

Stop calling yourselves a "start up" — you have been around since 1998. Still acting like you are "working things" out is delusional and problematic. Doing the same things over and over and thinking they are going to work the next time is insane.

    Pros

This company is a resume gold mine with so many opportunities - we're constantly taking on new responsibilities and learning something different. Senior management and teams actually listen to our ideas where I've even seen them implemented. Everyone in the company has great energy, humor, and we're able to work together collectively and dynamically. The company has helped me grow so much as a professional and I'm positive that working here will open many doors in the future.

    Cons

Many teams in the company lack bandwidth - but this also gives us the opportunity to take on more challenges/responsibilities and grow in experience.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good job!
