I have been working at Bob Evans full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Stable, steady flow of income, staff will be like family

    Cons

Stressful highly, no support from upper management or corporate. Ridiculous menu creations and changes often, NO SUPPORT FROM ANYWHERE.

    Advice to Management

Don't do it with out a well thought out plan. Show your staff not in high levels of management but working at local stores love and support. Giving gms and dos weeks of vacation while ams have work with new systems changes and no support... Not smart.

I worked at Bob Evans full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked there for 12 years. I worked my way up, but hit a road block at assistant manager because I wouldn't play their game in politics. It was a great first job and a great job to learn the ins and outs of restaurant, they even paid for my ServSafe Certification. It was easy to transfer from store to store as a part-time/full-time employee when time came. I was able to work in 5 different stores across 3 states.

    Cons

When they were closing down stores (the second wave, we called it) when it got to our store, they offered us little severance pay, NEVER got the vacation pay I was promised... The best part was that the full timers (me 12 years, a corporate trainer of 20+ years, and another full timer for about 10 years) were not offered a transfer to stay with the company (there were still many stores within driving distance), basically told us we'd have to reapply and start over.. no thanks.

    Advice to Management

I guess it's a lot different now since the company has been sold and bought, but pay attention to your key players, the ones that have been there through literally all the messed up things corporate has done. Make sure you can recognize the ones who actually care about your customers as they are the ones giving you a paycheck.
