I have been working at Bob's Discount Furniture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has great core values that align with my personal values - integrity and transparency being the most important to me. The mattresses are such excellent quality product that I can feel really good about representing and I enjoy this area the most- But really it's about the customers. A lot of foot traffic gives me a chance to get a little glimpse into the lives of all that I speak to - and to me these customers' stories are fascinating. I enjoy the people and Bobs gives me the platform in which to have a connection with them while earning a great living. The product sells itself which allows for very minimal stress on the job. When I go home, I leave my work at work.

The company has a pretty good paid time off benefit after completing a year of employment. I believe it's like a total of almost 4 weeks off which is nice.

Bob's promotes from within often so there are lots of opportunities for advancement - especially is you are available to relocate.

    Cons

Work life balance can be challenging due to retail hours.
There aren't any cons past the demands of the retail schedule.

    Advice to Management

For a sales associate position consider implementing a rotating weekend off per month (if the employee wants it) as so many other companies do. I truly believe this would give the employee a refreshed outlook and also bring in a larger quantity of qualified candidates seeking employment with the company.

I have been working at Bob's Discount Furniture part-time

    Pros

Fantastic environment, my team is great and we all get along, rarely any conflict amongst the sales associates when it comes to commission, great pay, easy scheduling, management actually cares about their employees and they always go the extra mile for us, 30% off discount, over all a great healthy company to work for.

    Cons

For me this isn’t an issue but it may be for others, it is a draw commission based sales team and other than that I actually have to sit here and try to come up with another possible downfall to working for Bobs so I’m going to leave it at that.

    Advice to Management

Ask more questions during huddles and give more advice to sales associates on (how) they can improve their weaknesses to become a more efficient and successful sales associate.

    Pros

Good, hard working people on sales team.

    Cons

Pay an hourly wage that doesn't have to be paid back. Great sales people who will be looking for better compensation elsewhere. Sales are the backbone of the company. They can make you or break you.

    Pros

Going on 8 years with company and store management does not micro-manage like other furniture retailers do. You can pretty much pick your own schedule as per whether you prefer opening or closing. As long as you're a competent salesperson and show up on time and don't cause any unnecessary drama you'll have a good experience. Store management is hands on as much as you need.

    Cons

Company's software system such as order entry isn't the best. Kind of outdated and very slow at times. Company doesn't have Email for it's sales team which I can't understand. Customer service isn't the best either as consumers and sales staff might have to wait 10 mins or more to speak with a CSM. Don't love that the store is open till 10 pm but that's retail and some employees prefer to close.

    Advice to Management

8 years with company and why no email for sales staff ?
