I have been working at Boeing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work-life balance, management allows for flexible work schedules and working from home 2 days a week (depending on your work statement).

    Great health insurance and benefits.

Most of my colleagues have been pleasant, easy to work with people.

    Cons

Technologies used is often out of date, and change is slow.

Technical workers are underpaid for their skills vs comparable positions at other companies in the Seattle area.

    Frequent layoffs.

Promotions and upward mobility is difficult.

    Advice to Management

Pay your technical workers in IT more! Boeing is losing a lot of talent due to higher paying jobs in the area.

I have been working at Boeing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Diverse Opportunities, good pay, good benefits, professional union. Relaxed atmosphere compared to east-coast companies.

    Cons

Have you read Dilbert? All the usual big corporation issues. Non-professional management is spotty; they have what they bring to the job - Boeing doesn't train or mentor them much. They do tend to have good technical backgrounds, but those may not relate to their current assignment (or You). Some of the younger guys complain about the lack of personal bennies, like no free coffee; Boeing is NOT like Google or even Microsoft in that way.

    Advice to Management

Get some training! Give some training! OJT is a real thing!

I worked at Boeing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Pension, VIP(voluntary investment matches) and Health benefits

    Cons

Unless you're senior management or an Engineer, you're probably not going to get hired full time. They've been replacing full-time employees with 32/hr week contractors.

    Advice to Management

Boeing is management heavy. Need to reduce the amount of 'leadership teams' They are totally out of touch with employees.

I have been working at Boeing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Boeing Company employees benefit package is one of the best that I have found thus far.

    Cons

Work is base on packages from the large company centers and are subject to be taken away base on the centers work load. This leave Huntsville at the mercy of the other center personnel fluctuations.

    Advice to Management

Planning is important for the kind of work that the center does, failure to plan properly will lead to failure to the center which result on personnel layoffs.

    - Huge variance in career paths enable individuals to find the path that best suits them
    - Company culture encourages a healthy work/life balance
    - Number of geographic sites means transferring can be easier
    - Fantastic benefits, including 401(K), health, vacation and sick leave

    Cons

    - Some disciplines suffer from inefficiency or redundancy due to the sheer size of the company
    - Supplier Management is a severe issue on large development programs
    - Lack of company "perks" found at other companies

    Pros

Not sure if there is any anymore

    Cons

The company's moral has gone down since this business management model has taken place

    Advice to Management

Get back to how it was 3-4 years ago

I have been working at Boeing full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Pay for aerospace, benefits are good, and engineering union keeps things very fair and honest.

    Cons

Frequent layoffs, poor management structure, poor layoff methods. Boeing's really shooting itself in the foot with how it lays off employees.

    Advice to Management

Simplify the leadership chain, focus on improving cash flow, and get hiring methods in check. Don't over-hire one year and then decide you need layoffs in a world class economy.

I worked at Boeing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Boeing is a great place to get significant performance in internal service based IT. Infrastructure design services was a thoroughly rewarding experience.

    Cons

After many years at the company, the tendency is to not promote from within and investment in career development is virtually non-existent. Infrastructure experience at Boeing appears to not be translatable to outside industry.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the development of the staff, rather than just promoting the mantra that "people are our most valuable resource". Multiple layoffs in the last 2 years clearly dictate otherwise.
