I worked at Boeing full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Treats employees well, great benefits. Decent pay.

    Cons

Must leave to get promotion. Too many internal tools. Outdated data management.

    Advice to Management

Promote your effective workers. They dont want to leave, and deep down, you don't want them to leave either.

I have been working at Boeing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Excellent Health and Retirement Benefits.

    Cons

Boeing will move employees without notice without move packages and reduce salaries. It is all about increasing margins and the sacrifice of the employees. Bad culture at Boeing.

    Advice to Management

    Put the People first.

I worked at Boeing full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Great opportunities if your lucky.

    Cons

    They continue to have layoffs.

    Advice to Management

I would highly recommend every lead, manager and Senior manager at this company be required to take a "Customer Service" and "Human Relations" course. Because every employee should be treated like the managers internal customer. The customers (internal/external) are the reason the company is where they are today.

I have been working at Boeing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work in Supplier Management which is a unique part of the business and very different than the manufacturing or engineering side. The work-life balance is great, rarely would you be expected to work over 40 hrs/wk. There are decent opportunities for career growth and development if you build your network and build your skills. You need to be proactive about seeking out opportunities. Good place to work because you get a view of how the entire organization works.

    Cons

Supplier Management does not pay well. Salary is below market value. Promotions are few and far between. I feel their annual performance review program doesn't do a good enough job rewarding people who are actually working hard and getting results. There are many people at Boeing who are very lazy and just coast along. Very slow paced company overall and lack of accountability.

    Advice to Management

    None.

I have been working at Boeing full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Medical 401 k dental job listings

    Cons

One of the worst jobs I've ever had in my career. Management is horrible they are too busy battling for position than doing the job at hand.

    Advice to Management

Do the job and stay focused on the issues and not the gossip

I worked at Boeing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are great. The end product is an awesome multi million dollar airplane. You will work on several different projects over the years. Each is unique.

    Cons

Slow moving major bureaucracy. The culture is reflective of that. Fair amount of apathy and "punch in punch out" mentality.

    Advice to Management

Please promote to managers more carefully. I noticed a surprising amount of really bad managers.

I worked at Boeing as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Work / Life balance is the best I have had anywhere. If you are lucky to get a full time position, you can expect upward of 4 weeks off during the year.
    - Incredible amount of support (perhaps overbearing at times) from team members, management, other business functions.
    - Most comprehensive on the job training I have received ~120+ hours of instructor led & online learning.
    - Interesting products.

    Cons

    - Corporate and bureaucratic. Overbearing amount of processes & internal road blocks. It can take months to issue a contract.
    - Too many unnecessary positions within Supplier Management. Instead of leaning out the department, focus seems to be on gutting the sub tiers.
    - Outdated systems. Expect to use upwards of 7 software packages as a buyer, though ERP implementation is supposedly on the horizon.
    - 'First man in, last man out' mentality. Hard to get your foot in the door, as most positions favor internal hires. Corporate strategy seems to have also shifted toward contract hires & recent grads to reduce costs.

    Advice to Management

Lean out the organization, update your software (it's not the 90's), and hire more external talent.

    Cons

    Pros

Good health benefits. Opportunities to travel/work abroad.

    Advice to Management

    Value your employees through compensation.

    Pros

Great benefits and opportunity to move up

    Cons

They are laying off people with tribal knowlede and replacing them with college hires.

    Advice to Management

Engage with employees and thank them for their hard work more often.
