    Pros

You get to go home at the end of the day. Training is unprofessional.

Laid off a lot of the time. Short lunch breaks. Boring hard work.

    Advice to Management

Learn to communicate with your employees better.

I have been working at Boise Cascade full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of overtime (although it is usually mandatory)

    Cons

The compensation is not even close to comparable for the working conditions and job requirements.

There is no such thing as holidays or family life when working there.

The majority of supervisors are not qualified to supervise a lemonade stand.

    Pros

The company team is pretty nice

    Cons

No running water, working bathrooms, air, or heat. OSHA needs to come in and write these people up. Substandard working conditions of a 3rd world country. It's an unsafe work environment that hires anybody. They need to upgrade their equipment and facility.

    Advice to Management

Properly train people and develop real leaders who know what they're doing.

I have been working at Boise Cascade (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent. Schedule isn't to bad. Gives you alot of off days.

    Cons

Management!!!! No hr at our plant. When a job comes available they just give it to whoever there friend is that drinks beer with them. They never post a job opening. No opportunity to move up unless you hangout with supervisor on your offer days. Don't care if you have 5 point or no points as long as they like you.

    Advice to Management

Be fair!!!!!!!!!! Post job openings even if you know who your giving it to. That way your an equal opportunity company. Stop showing favoritism just because you hangout outside of work.

I worked at Boise Cascade full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Boisetopia this might sound like paradise by the name. Picture thos off in the distance at what looks nice but as get closer you find out it's the Twilight Zone. That's right don't be mistaken by the appearance because it will deceive you it really is a living nightmare and that is what I have to say that is good about it because once you're in Boisetopia you'll find out you're in the Twilight Zone. No joking here as a person who has worked there for many years and left with a bad taste in my mouth and much more. I am trying to be polite so this post won't get band but there advertising people will probably find a way. Anyways let's just say I was a person that fix the machines that kept the place running and I did my job very well in the end there was a lot of lies rumors but I don't need to get into that because I'm only here to say don't join the job unless you want to be sucked into the Twilight Zone and never come back

    Cons

I will try to keep this short and sweet upper management the worst ever in the world rated number one worth management ever in the galaxy. The employees are blind to the way they are being treated and actually partake in ways maybe they wouldn't if they had any common sense. Now I will say something good in the con section there are people out there that are honest good and true people but they get stepped on lied about and rumors told about them so they are forced to leave or they are fired for somebody else's gain. Now for those people that I mentioned that are good that are few now they've pushed out the old-timer that were honest and now putting in Young and brainwashed people from upper management that do not know the job or educated I'm sorry that you have gone through this. I am saying this and I am not old I am younger with a college education and more knowledge than most. I'm not saying this to gloat just telling you I know what I'm talking about. This place needs that are whole infrastructure from CEO down to the maintenance leaders replaced reevaluate or just fire now. To those few that are left there that are honest and good I wish you luck and Godspeed

    Advice to Management

To every person you did wrong to in this place of business you need to walk up to them and let them slap you every morning before they start work and 10 years down the road once you've been slapped enough you are free to be a employee again and start at the bottom and work your way up if that's your desire but until then you just need to be fired or quit and slapped every morning by these people you did wrong thank you and have a good day

    Pros

This is an organziation that is desperate for current performance. As a result, if you can reduce costs or bring in significant volume today...emphasis on today...you'll be a star.

    Cons

The short term view and financial health of the company due to the deal done by the former private equity companies

    Advice to Management

They are doing the logical thing for the shareholders. We have to perform financially today before we get going. That being said, don't dismiss the feedback we recieve from customers, employees or vendors. You will loose key people if the environment doesn't change soon.

    Pros

Boise seems to pay very well for the positions offered in the Boise valley.

    Cons

The debt load of the company has really led to low employee morale. Right now, this is the place dreams go to die.

    Advice to Management

You are only seen as a good manager by the quality of people working for you. Don't take it personally.

I worked at Boise Cascade full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Big Company, there should be good opportunity for growth.

    Cons

Big Company, too many political games.

    Advice to Management

To many political games. People in positions of authority are not qualified in the fields they manage. They have lost site of "The Customer Comes First." To many people in management trying to keep they're job, instead of taking time to understand how to do they're job.
