    Pros

Dynamic environment. Challenging position where you are given autonomy to make decisions and manage various projects. I enjoy contributing by saving money and reducing costs.

    Cons

High turnover. Lots of internal procedures make a task complicated and lengthy. There is no formal training, you have to be independent and resourceful.

    Advice to Management

Make some tasks and procedures more efficient and reduce the number of internal approvals.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with a world-class historical product was exciting. The Challenger, Learjet and Global products were game changers in their time. Salaries were more than fair, the work was exciting and prestigious.

    Cons

Inability in upper management to recognize when a management innovation did not work, admit it and adjust course, led to an environment of middle management drinking the koolaid and cynically forcing the dogma onto the employees. Middle managers who questioned the latest fad were discarded or sidelined.

One good idea at a time. This disastrous concept had a 50-dollar employee compensation for new process change proposals from each employee that were approved at the departmental level and adopted without investigation of how the change would affect downstream processes or internal partners. Most typically, a process step within the department would be deleted or simplified because it saved time within that department. Downstream deapartments who needed the product of this process step would have to scramble to produce it themselves or modify their processes to pass the requirement down to the next department, later in the timeline. Typically the end product would end up being available late. Sound familiar?

    Advice to Management

Stop being trendy. Stop yearly company-wide transformations. Pay attention to details. You are building aircraft for crying out loud.

    Pros

Good benefits. Big company there is opportunity to move around in the company. More or less stable depending on the department.

    Cons

Lack of direction takes forever to move up in the company. Could be boring since they have no big projects to work on mostly RnD work. This all depends on where u land in the company.

    Cons

Not compensating expertise and labor sufficiently. Too top heavy (too many managers, high inertia for decision making)
