I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time

    Pros

The pay was fair and the benefits package was nice. Health insurance, 401K match and vacation were in line with the industry. I was able to hold different positions within the company gaining valuable experience and establishing business relationships. Bombardier as a company was good to me and when I was laid off the severance package was generous.

    Cons

Small raises around %1.2 to %1.75 when they did give them.
    Promoted through politics not performance.
Goals for the EIP and bonuses were unreachable.
Bombardier seemed not to be concerned with the Learjet product and focused more on the C Series.
Fear of being laid off is always hanging over everyone.
Customer service has deteriorated to the point where customers hesitate to deal with the company unless necessary. The Sales staff is not experienced in the products they are selling nor aviation. I was proud to be part of the Bombardier team but in the last 2-5 years it has been stripped down by poor decisions and multiple management snafus. It seems unlikely Bombardier and especially Learjet will fully recover.

    Advice to Management

Many people questioned the judgment behind why some employees were let go and some were not. More checks and balances are needed in Wichita regarding management within Part Logistics. Multiple people approached Human Resources about the same Manager bullying employees but the behavior continues according to people who still work there.

I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wages are union negotiated and top notch. Benefits continue to slid at every contract

    Cons

Management uses good ol boy system when selecting supervisors. New Supervisions attitude is the "beatings will continue until morale improves". The future looks dark due to poor sales of Learjet which is spiralling down and the end is certain. Right to work state "Kansas" takes away the strength of having a union. That's why myself and other inspectors don't join.

    Advice to Management

Stop the Discrimination against and unfair treatment of workers for poor sales and failure to meet unrealistic goals.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good hours which are beneficial to employees' time off. Great profit sharing program, and HR is pleasant to work with on the daily basis.

    Cons

poor middle management leading to many employees' downfall. Lack of proper and thorough supervisors also. Will definitely avoid this company in the future.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with compassion. Even in the hardest moments, like letting someone go, treat all your employees with kindness and dignity. You have the power in this relationship, and that comes with the responsibility of exercising it with reason and decency.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits, really nice area people- day shift ok if you want lots of overtime its here

    Cons

Nepotism at its best. . Advances based on clique. Your hard work and loyalty means nothing here. Your raises based on who you know.sad,a lot of good people getting passed by.

    Advice to Management

Canada needs to gut the management and start over- get fair with the employees and stick to rules for all the same

I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Operators were well trained, hard working and eager to improve. Workmanship and skill of operators were excellent. Support groups and mid level leaders and/or supervisors were extremely cooperative and goal oriented.

    Cons

Systems & processes are outdated. Organization is extremely reactive in all aspects. Vision and mission are not clearly communicated from the top level managers. Senior leadership from Canada not engaged enough to understand actual situation in Wichita. Seems to be lack of support from Canadian leadership due to focus on C-Series and Global Series aircraft.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace full-time

    Pros

Good benefits and location is great for starting a family. Work hours are reasonable and coworkers are fun.

    Cons

No compensation for significant overtime or weekend work. Potential to be sent to Canada for months at a time without being compensated more for being away from home and family. Budget control is limiting training and development of individuals. Requirements are not clearly defined and are constantly changing because of it which makes it impossible to prioritize work to be done.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some opportunity for advancement as long as you are able to toe the line. Bonuses. Offers fairly decent level of benefits. Great co-workers

    Cons

Upper management is only concerned with toeing the line as placed by Montreal. Constant knee jerk reactions to problems instead of looking for and fixing the real problems. Used to have some of the best benefits in the industry but has gradually eroded everything from time off policies to pay scales. Montreal makes stupid decisions and the rest of the company pays the price. Training is a complete joke. Fools the FAA and customers with the "Diamond" awards that are achieved only by having employees lie on their training forms.

    Advice to Management

Go back to what made this company one of the most desired places to be employed. Respect your employees and quit treating them like idiots. They likely know more than you'll ever learn. Enough of the knee jerk reactions to little things. Good grief, this is a dangerous industry but you employ adults. Respect them and their ability to recognize dangerous situations. Seriously, project managers need to check out laddders?!

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Salary was quite good, despite the hassles with working at a company that makes one kneejerk reaction after another.

    Cons

Where to start. They are way too top heavy starting with the Montreal managers who act more dictators instead of managers who put you in a position to succeed. The company is so fragmented that one area will actively sabotage another in order to get a bigger piece of the ever shrinking pie. They are constantly going through layoff cycles and will let go of long-time employees on a whim. Nobody has any job security.

    Advice to Management

Provide training opportunities and learn to value people.
