I worked at Bombardier Aerospace as an intern

    Pros

    - lot of work between departments
    - interns' work is appreciated
    - new employees given chance to develop skills
    - opportunities to move within the organization

    Cons

    - upper management isn't very involved with students activities

    Advice to Management

Provide more internships to lower year students to get to know the industry better rather than getting upper or final year students mostly

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    You get a pay check

    Cons

The leadershit team at BA from Daddy's boy Beaudoin down to the management level, in general are useless. There are some good ones, but the crate is filled with bad apples - This firm will never be the once great firm it use to be. It will require great changes and decades to clean up the toxic waste that is bombardier

    Advice to Management

None - they don't know how to read and don't have the skill's necessary to be in management

I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

In a unionized position which has decent benefits, salary and paid overtime. Knowledgeable and experienced coworkers to learn from. Some have been around since the early days of DeHavilland and offer a lot of wisdom.

Room to advance in to management if you are in a salary job.

    Cons

-If you work in a salary position you can look forward to no job security, poor salary comparitively and no cooperation between unionized employees.
-Processes in place aren't working, employees are unhappy and stressed.
-Uncertain long term future of the company
-Share purchase plan has been scrapped, company does not match your contributions anymore.

Too much petty office politics and high tension between employees due to the uncertain fate of the company makes this place very stressful to work.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at how other successful companies model their business and do that instead. Whatever is going on right now isn't working and is contributing to a very high stress, low reward work environment.

    - high turn around time due to employees quitting as well as layoffs
    - life is not considered important in work/life balance discussions

    Advice to Management

Management does not listen to employees unless it's what they want to hear

    Pros

Working for the top aerospace company in canada, explosed to the exciting new program and can learn a lot of new things. Good pay, nice friendly coworkers. Good pension. A good place for senior employees since they are well protected by the union.

    Cons

Unionized work environment sometimes can get things move slowly, low efficiency. There's lots of new hired people with pasion and try to get work done quickly. But still there's some seniority guys utilizing the union rule to protect themself from doing nothing.

    Advice to Management

We respect the senior gentlemen but management by contribution by fact and setup relative incentive program would definitely boost the productivity and help to double/triple the efficiency.
