I have been working at Bon Appétit Management full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I work with a great group of professionals to provide quality products. I have the opportunity daily to learn cooking techniques with regard to utilizing local products and catering to specific dietary needs.

    Cons

I am currently in a position that does not fully utilize my talents. I enjoy cooking, but I also have extensive management experience. Ideally I would like to be working in a position with more responsibilities and a leadership role.

I have been working at Bon Appétit Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a job, if they terminate you they don't usually challenge your claim for unemployment benefits, you get to eat one meal.

    Cons

Mainly a west coast company that has no support on the East Coast. They talk the talk but can't walk the walk.

    Advice to Management

Try recruiting professionals, I always wondered where people who finished bottom of there managerial class ended up, now I know.

I have been working at Bon Appétit Management full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free meals when you work, hourly staff is great!

    Cons

You will never receive a promotion as they rarely hire within the company, management has loose definition of what their duties are and things fall apart, if you are unable to make an event they threaten to fire you for it.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the potential of your workers and the amount of work they do for you before you hire someone from outside the company for a management position.

I have been working at Bon Appétit Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The work is simple and you'll be kept busy, plenty of room to go above and beyond when taking the time to care about your work.

    Cons

Management cares little is employees put in extra effort, and have no problems overworking them when given the chance. Employees can expect to work 5+ years without any chance at promotions

    Pros

If you look for a place to start an entry level job, this is the great place. Great co-workers, free lunch and breakfast for employees.

    Cons

It is easy to move the job between the units, but not much room for grow; really difficult to communicate with the cooperate, for example, if you wanna print out your pay stub, you have to go through your manager.

I have been working at Bon Appétit Management full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - free food
    - There are a few chefs who are good mentors. They seem to be the minority.

    Cons

    - the dishwasher with down syndrome hit on me
    - the health benefits that are promised by Bon Appetite and Google were impossible for me to sign up for.
    - the kitchen focuses on demerits before learning, goal setting, or thoughtful deliberation.
-there are chefs who are good mentors (I met one) but any support they offer is squanders by the other white coats who out number them.
    - I felt restricted by their rules to wear cut gloves and let leads or sous chefs scream "ma!" at me while I was trained-- all of which resulted in me being reprimanded.
-every question I had about demerits (that require signing a paper that goes on your work history) went in favor of someone who is Spanish speaking or latino and latina.

    Advice to Management

The cafes and kitchens felt more like a correctional facility than a place to learn. I thought the management was brainwashed the way they couldn't identify between someone who comes in the morning with a positive attitude and does a job and her trainer who blares rap music at 5:30 am from a parking lot before work, offloads tasks at every chance to do as little work as possible, and can't have a one-on-one conversation about splitting tasks without bringing in two other mediators (every day).
