    Pros

It's a job, if they terminate you they don't usually challenge your claim for unemployment benefits, you get to eat one meal.

    Cons

Mainly a west coast company that has no support on the East Coast. They talk the talk but can't walk the walk.

    Advice to Management

Try recruiting professionals, I always wondered where people who finished bottom of there managerial class ended up, now I know.

    Pros

Free meals when you work, hourly staff is great!

    Cons

You will never receive a promotion as they rarely hire within the company, management has loose definition of what their duties are and things fall apart, if you are unable to make an event they threaten to fire you for it.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the potential of your workers and the amount of work they do for you before you hire someone from outside the company for a management position.

    Pros

    - Free meals (every day! what a savings)
    - Stable schedule depending on your account
    - Autonomy, the ability to experiment with recipes
    - Kaiser health insurance, 401K etc

    Cons

Can't believe anything management says until its on paper and happening, but that's realistic with any job. Our GM is almost never around, assistant makes calls or promises that later change because they aren't in the GM's vision. You feel like you're constantly playing "Red light, green light".

    Advice to Management

Don't string people along with "maybes" in order to manipulate them! Don't offer raises in order to pacify folks unless they're gonna happen!

    Cons

Like i was saying that bosslady was kinda mean and it was a little degrading having to serve a bunch of uni students

    Advice to Management

more free food. it would keep me energized and ready to work. i promise.
no uniforms. mine got dirty and hardly had time to wash the one polo

    Pros

Good Monday-Friday hours. Okay benefits. Some fun coworkers. Okay pay. Beautiful facilities.

    Cons

Work/Life balance is horrible. Low wages and expected to work "Off the clock." No support from management. Constantly changing job descriptions with no increase in pay or change of job title. Middle-upper management is completely out of touch with day to day functions. Really high turnover. No rewards for hardest workers, low skill workers are never held accountable. No follow through with anything.

    Advice to Management

Show more backbone with under preforming staff, work on keeping moral high and rewarding workers who preform well. Don't make false promises during interviews and at review times.

I worked at Bon Appétit Management part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    401 K
    Regular work week schedules

    Cons

Terrible management. No incentive to train employees for advancement. Took weeks to hear back, and my interviewer couldn't even provide me with the proper address. I had to correct him many times.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better, make sure your upper management are properly trained. I felt like my supervisor was not as experienced as I was. It was difficult for me to take them seriously.

    Pros

Sustainable practices, they offer benefits, free meals while working, that's about all I can say that was positive about my experience

    Cons

Management is above their employees at all times and doesn't hold themselves to the same standards. Management will almost always require employees to work long hours, then start cutting to save on overtime. No real support from management, employee problems are a thorn in their side and are disregarded as often as possible. No real room for upward movement. Most managerial openings are filled from outside company. They do not consistently give reviews to employees. They do not consistently give raises, not even coat of living. A lot of employees only raises were from an increase of minimum wage. Rarely anybpositive feedback, even when things go well, only negatives are brought up/pointed out.

    Advice to Management

Remember what it was like to be a peon. You should be holding yourselves to a higher standard, not lesser. Take your employees concerns to heart.
