I have been working at Bon Secours Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Retention bonus, great benefits, easy commute/parking. Faith based healthcare with leadership that cares about all staff. Clean, well maintained facility.

    Cons

Miserable, unfriendly co-workers, extremely fast paced to the point of disregarding needs of staff. Vacation time granted then (tried) to take away because "someone else needed it". 40 hours not guaranteed but sometimes OT is required.

    Advice to Management

Having favorite employees isn't motivating to the rest of the team. Have a department specific orientation, ask new employees how they are doing.

    Pros

Co workers are great.. Small community hospital.

    Cons

Lab manager is horrible . Always flirting with the younger girls there including students when he's is on site. Never can find him when he says he is going to be a specific locations. Certain people get ahead by doing certain favors for him.

    Advice to Management

Please get rid of this director asap before there is a sexual harassment case against the system. Makes for a very uncomfortable work place.

I worked at Bon Secours Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Room to grow and learn
    Great team
Corporate events were usually fun and well organized

    Cons

Compensation was poor, very corporate and slow to make decisions, hired as intern and position transitioned to FT, but no change in pay. Also team was unable to add appropriate position to department, so there was little to no recognition for work being completed.

    Advice to Management

Direct managers were great, but higher ups were slow to respond and make decisions. Compensate your employees fairly.

    Pros

    Great mission
Part of the St. Francis Health System
    Great benefits
    Co-workers/Volunteers supportive of each other
    Loved working directly with patients
Loved working in a place where you can speak freely of God

    Cons

Upper management did not follow the mission nor care for employees
    Secret promotions
    No room for growth professionally
You can get fired for anything even if you worked for the company for several years

    Advice to Management

I really would suggest removing the upper management out of the hospice house and replacing with those who really care about hospice and the patients

    Pros

There are people who are truly there to serve. The company's mission and value statements are strong and meaningful, and when they are top of mind, great work happens.

    Cons

Everyone is not being held to the same standard from senior management down. Unfortunately, individuals that that are not being held accountable know all to well that they will not be dismissed.

    Advice to Management

Your culture is being shaped by your physicians not by you. This is not good. Their negative talk and behavior undermine your mission. They need to be held accountable instead of catered to. Spoiled children that throw tantrums should not be rewarded or tolerated. Just a thought.

    Management insincerity.
    Lack of communication.
Do not pay holiday pay for most holidays.
Treat nurses very differently than salaried employees.
Take advantage of Nursing staff as much as possible.
Do not live up to promises made on hire.

    Advice to Management

Live up to promises made on hire.
    Show follow through with employees

Give Nursing staff same holidays and pay as salaried employees.
There is absolutely NO growth in St. Francis ED. None. Almost all management is hired from outside facilities making much hostility within staff.
