    Lifetime employment, low expectations, it is very hard to be disciplined or fired from this company

    Cons

    Poor to non-existent leadership from corporate headquarters all the way down to facility level, confusing and arbitrary policies, cronies get promoted while hard workers leave

    Advice to Management

    Figure out where the company is going and base all decision on that vision. People in leadership positions need to be leaders with visions for the future instead of "yes" men (and women).

    I worked at Bon-Ton Stores full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great Discount and Wonderful associates.

    Cons

    Most associates are part time and are never given raises.
    Store manager never works late or comes in early during the holidays when open till 11 or 12pm he always left early. Hid the monthly manager schedules so we wouldn't see that we were being scheduled to work 4 or 5 evening shifts a week. When asked for them he would stamp his feet like a small child. The bad hours were directed to the older women supervisors only. The men were not asked to work only 1 night a week.

    Advice to Management

    You need to quit everyone hates their jobs and under perform because of it.

    I worked at Bon-Ton Stores part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    There was nothing good to say. Sick to my stomach going to work here.

    Cons

    Expectations are unrealistic, sales goals are instituted using projections, therefore there is alot of associates fighting for register sales time. No one wants to straighten the merchandise as a result. Unfriendly management. Cannot go to school and manage this job. They want total open availibilty. New department supervisor had no previous clothing retail skills and yelled at coworker at the register in front of a customer. Unprofessional terrible place to work.
