I have been working at Bonefish Grill part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not that hard job. Pretty easy, people around you are nice and mature, all the customers are old so they are always nice to everyone. Drama free. Flexible schedule

    Cons

Favoritism from managers, less hours. On a busy day u could make good money but on a slow day u could walk out with just $10-20 working 6 hour shift

    Advice to Management

Stop favortising people just because you know them. Give people props for the people that deserves it the most.

I have been working at Bonefish Grill part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good crew, flexible hours. Opportunity to move up if you really set your heart to it. Better business than many other area chain restaurants (but that distinction is fading). 50% discount on employee shift meals, 25% outside of work and at other Bloomin' Brands stores.

    Cons

In short: Overstaffed; Management in turmoil; Little server support; Declining business undergoing an identity crisis.

Having a large staff does make scheduling more flexible and easy to pick up or give up shifts, but it can be difficult to maintain the full-time status needed to enjoy the health and vacation benefits. Picking up shifts to bulk your schedule will have to become a second job if you want to keep them, because you'll only be scheduled <30 hrs/wk regularly.

Many shake-ups in management on the local and corporate level over the past few years have lead to turmoil. New ideas implemented tend to add more to the server's burden with sparce support and frequently negatively affects server earning potential (tips). There are no dedicated bussers; servers mostly help each other out while the host stand does what it can to reset tables... or doesn't (they're auto-tipped out according to your sales regardless).

Things like coupons and loyalty programs have taken a toll on sales per table, as well as bringing in a less-refined clientele. Combined with a menu that has evolved very little over the past decade (besides downgrading to cheaper ingredients), we're losing good, long-time customers in order to cast a wider net.

Lastly, shifts and sections are assigned mostly haphazardly with a little favoritism tossed in. One might find themselves in a two table section or lobby/cocktail more than once a week (we have enough staff that no one should have these undesirable stations more once every couple of months), or wind up with multiple crucial weekend shifts off unrequested for.

    Advice to Management

If you want to maintain the "Polished Casual" description you've given yourself, then truly innovate. Overhaul the menu, commit to quality ingredients. Pay your hosts a wage and hire a dedicated busters.

    Pros

Management is very understanding; you feel as though you are working alongside them, not under them. Employees are friendly, good people. Always a positive atmosphere. Teamwork is demanded, and everyone is dedicated to helping others improve

    Cons

hosts make very little money on slow nights

    Advice to Management

    make host wages more hourly-dependent

I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Training is efficient, you even have to take tests on what they serve even as a host. Your trained to great extent

    Cons

Management is one sided. There are 2 managing partners but only one actually knows the hosts. The other doesn't seem to care.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the trainers and don't keep the employees who the trainers say have a attitude and maybe keep the ones that get compliments by guests when you do lay offs.
