I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time for less than a year

    Pros

You have to learn to the menu to pass the tests at the beginning of your training, so you will definitely know how to answer any questions your tables have. You normally only get a 3-4 table section, so there is low stress. Everyone helps each other run food and drinks.

    Cons

You have to split a party if it is 7 people or more. It can be ridiculous when the party is half kids and it makes no sense to split causing you to waste your time and not make enough money. At my location, we were constantly running out of food items and one time it was like we were out of half the menu and tables were ripping servers apart even though it was not our fault.

I have been working at Bonefish Grill part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere with close-knit team. Not clique-y like many restaurants. Easy sidework and decent menu prices with $40+ average check for two.

    Cons

Management is too lax, customer base is grumpy and cheap.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and take criticism more serious.

I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time for less than a year

      Pros

Flexible Schedule, Nice Menu, Pretty restaurant, Clean environment, Opportunities

      Cons

Aqua cultured fish. Bonefish claims house made items but is mostly buying pre packaged, preportioned, frozen foods. This place also cuts corners when it comes to staff. Not unusual for the servers and bartenders washing dishes, taking trash out...the list is endless. Bonefish claims perfect service with a three table max per server. Maybe the server could handle more tables if they weren't expected to do miscellaneous...

      Advice to Management

Get, find and pay reliable, dependable staff that can pass a drug test so they'll show up for their shifts. Maybe if your company was willing to pay a little more you could accomplish this and keep your wait and bar staff at the front of the house where they belong. They could look nice and clean because they're not taking the trash out which ought to be done by the Back of house staff, oh, wait, they only come in at...

The staff at every location I have worked was great The food is good You can easily transfer locations, so you can move wherever Easy to be promoted

      Cons

Corporate, you have no say in menu items, etc. and people constantly complain to you about things out of your control Three table section You have to split parties over 7 people

      Advice to Management

You don't get to pick and choose when rules apply

I have been working at Bonefish Grill full-time for more than a year

      Pros

The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is quite nice. The menu is great. And in general, the people I work with are pretty wonderful. All very friendly.

      Cons

During the week there is little money to be made. Management can be a bit overbearing, borderline disrespectful.

      Advice to Management

Learn how to speak to people before you decided you want to try and be a bigshot.

I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

You will be well trained about the menu, there’s potential opportunities to move up, discounts on food, and a semi-flexible scheduling opportunities depending upon your availability, money is pretty decent but at times can be inconsistent. Before the constant switch of managers, it was a great place to work. Before all the politics and drama came with the new managers, I loved my job.

      Cons

The location I worked at went through about 4 different managers within a 2 year time period. Sometimes other coworkers were more favorited over others who may have even worked there for a shorter time than you have.... They were not fair with requesting days off however somehow the manager was always allowed vacation time or days off but when employees requested days off it wouldn’t be allowed, unless you were one of...

      Advice to Management

Be nice to your employees who work very hard everyday to represent the company well. Managers need to stay true to their word when they promise promotions or raises and they need to treat every employee equally. I’d suggest some maturity become present and the atmosphere change so that bonefish grill can keep the good, hard working and dedicated employees instead of running them off or encouraging them to quit due to...

I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time

      Pros

      flexible shifts/shift pickups, good menu

      Cons

unprofessional staff, low earnings, negative atmosphere

      Advice to Management

Impossible to make full time hours as FOH, impossible to live on less than full time hours. Pressure to cut labor means managers resort to deleting time or otherwise less-than-ethical practices. Company does not practice what it preaches.
