I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time for less than a year

    Pros

50% off dining, short shifts, good clientele, nice menu, great location, soft atmosphere, happy hosts, most servers know their stuff, good hours of operation

    Cons

Not welcoming!! Tiny restaurant . Snooty trainers who we're CONSTANTLY eating, and had their heads so far up the managers you know what. The managers let the trainers run the place, and if you were good the trainers didn't like it. It's obvious that they were afraid of competition. My table thought I was training my trainer!! They lie to the managers about your performance. Equal opportunity employer, I think not. Management...

    Advice to Management

Have friendlier trainers who actually care about you doing well, and aren't stuffing their faces for the whole restaurant to see. Tune into who you hire instead of just letting your "trainers" do so, and if you need to let go of someone, have the guts to tell them face to face..don't blow smoke up people's rear ends about how great they're doing, then take a jealous employees word. Observe who you hire yourself.

I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great opportunity to learn the restaurant industry with a quality product, professional staff, and flexibility. Family environment within the staff with support and interest in success as a team.

    Cons

Could use better training and job advancement program. In the recent years they have over complicated their menu and promotions. It was much better service, quality, and guest experience when the menu was more simple. The Tuesday promotions take value away from the brand.

    Advice to Management

Giving your staff opportunities to take leadership through training, education, job advancement, enrichment are all positive ways for retention and improvement of your staff.

I have been working at Bonefish Grill

      Pros

Decent menu, promote from within mentality, if you're willing to work and put in the hours you will be promoted.

      Cons

Pay is awful, hours are long and awful, I would not recommend this job for anyone.

      Advice to Management

PAY YOUR MANAGERS MORE... THEY ARE YOUR SLAVES... COMPENSATE THEM!!!

I have been working at Bonefish Grill full-time

        Pros

Great restaurant to work at with a great menu that is relatively easy to sell to clientele. The managers are usually well trained and can help with various problems. It's never a boring day

        Cons

Some managers, while well trained are still bad with connecting with their staff which creates tension. The corporate structure is also a bit of a let down at times.

        Advice to Management

Managers should be trained more in customer and employee relations. Also employee turnover shouldn't be as high as it is.

I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time

        Pros

Management was consistent in supporting employees and it was always a fun and friendly environment. As a host there were opportunities to move up.

        Cons

Like most restaurants, tips were not very consistent. The menu test was kind of difficult but it's worth it in the end.

        Advice to Management

Focus more on the big picture of things and dont hassle employees too much if they're already doing a good job.

I worked at Bonefish Grill full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

You can make a lot of money if you work hard and aren't lazy. Mgmt favors those who work hard. Can be fun and good food. Food menu is easy to learn As well as drinks.

        Cons

Your manager can be horrible and can ruin your day, all your days. Randomly be obsessed with someone until they leave, they don't care about loyal employees.

        Advice to Management

Trying to do things to mAke staff mad is not a good idea. Cutting sections, lowering shifts. I saw it all the time to loyal people who were good at their job.

I worked at Bonefish Grill part-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Easy online scheduling, a menu that's easy to sell. Perfect job if you're a college student but it's not as lucrative for a post grad or someone with another part time job. You can grow with Bonefish if you want to make a career out of it, but that takes years of frustration. A nicer place for a chain, at least, it used to be.

        Cons

Many changes since the company went public. Food quality has gone down and the whole Bonefish experience has become less refined. Business is slower than it used to be. Way too much side work! Benefits and PTO are nearly impossible to get since you are discouraged from working more than 40+ hours. Management expects you to bus every table and run all food/drinks which causes you to ignore your own tables and thus resulting...

I have been working at Bonefish Grill part-time for more than a year

        Pros

Great restaurant and product. Easy to sell something you love. Nice atmosphere. Some locations are pretty busy. The company promotes from within so there are a lot of advancement opportunities if you seek them out.

        Cons

Slow stores tend to be overstaffed which makes it difficult to make money if you are a tipped employee. Concept is constantly being explored and re-envisioned by senior management; keeping track of menu and concept changes can be frustrating.
